The nipple furthest from the electrical plug goes directly to the intake manifold. The other nipple goes to the metal line under the intake manifold that ultimately goes to the firewall and all the way back to the tank area.

Okay I think that might be the problem if I understand correctly. Here is how I had it hooked up and was getting the cel.

SO your saying to hook it up like this then?

2nd way is correct. Did you fabricate coolant tank or was it a moroso universal?

I think there's a bit of confusion about what nipple on the solenoid goes to what. Maybe it's different on cars.

This is how my MY06 WRX is setup.

I'm guessing I should keep this configuration when I do the delete?

Man, I'm glad I came across this thread. My purge valve is dry rotted and the local dealer gets $50 for them! SubaruGenuineParts gets $27.

I'm missing my purge valve solenoid. Would this cause my car to pump gas really slow? I'm thinking I need to fix it.

I noticed there's a directional arrow on the solenoid and there's a diagram on the hood for the purge system, if anyone gets confused.

__

I was able to get it sorted today. I was hoping to find a bolt for the nipple on the manifold but had no luck. I even tried a big industrial fastener place.

The thread pitch is 0.90mm and I believe the diameter is 8mm? Might be able to get it online.

But Autozone had some nice nipple caps.

Good stuff. Happy to clean up the engine bay a bit and remove something that could cause issues.

I believe the thread pitch is 1/8 NPT thread. Also how did you route the hoses based on the arrow?

are you sure? in your pictures the stock setup has the nipple closest to the plug going to the manifold and the nipple furthest away going under the manifold.

why would they be switched when deleting everything?

I actually have a thread measuring tool, it's 0.90mm.

The flow is from the evap pipe to the intake manifold/purge valve. So evap pipe goes to the nipple with the arrow.

That is the post that was confusing me too. I don't see any reason for swapping them so maybe he just made a mistake.

__

So I ran this "re-routing" by Matt at 555 Motor Sports (he's my tuner) and he suggested to remove the solenoid all together and vent the evap pipe to atmosphere. He said there are start up issues when routed like the JDM cars.

Actually, you may be right. Wiki says 1/8 NPT thread pitch is 0.94mm. It did look like it was tapered too.

Yah I used a 1/8 NPT plug and it seems to be working fine. So did you just add some extra hose so it reached under the car with it vented?

Cool, I'll try that.

Well it's just vapor. The only problem I could see, if you don't run a hose underneath, is maybe some fuel smell in the cabin. I just sent Matt an email about that. I'll let you know what he says.

Sounds good. I'm sure a CEL will be thrown without the solenoid but that wouldn't be difficult to turn off.

Ok, Matt said he doesn't get any fuel odors with his car and that it will cause a CEL but it can be disabled.

Does anyone have the part number to that black connector thats circled in the pictures? I snapped mines yesterday and need the a replacement one. Couldn't find anything close to matching at the local parts store, so will need to purchase it directly from Subaru...

I can't remember if that is straight through or not but maybe lowes or homedepot will have them in the plumbing section

will it work if you delete the solenoid and just leave the evap line to vent to atmosphere?

I think that is what Keif said his tuner did. Im sure you will throw a Cel by doing that but you can probably just turn it off

This is the part number for the new hose assembly with the black plastic connector you are looking for. It's not that much to replace all the hoses and connectors

Mine was hooked up with the nipple closest to the plug going to the Manifold, I showed it in my pictures. Not sure why it's the opposite on others but mine is an 05 STI

808_wrx - my advise is to fix it properly with a new/used unit. It's simple, pay for your mistake and move on.

If you have zero dollars then remove the solenoid and try to JB weld it in place, but I can guarantee it will break over time. Leaving anything open to vent to atmosphere will harm the motor and kill your HP and most certainly result in a CEL.
