Essentially, nothing's changed except supposedly Lightning Red is dropped and they swapped one black for another.

Those who have ordered, did you add the fog light kit? I'm debating adding it on mine but I'm still undecided. Heard they aren't necessarily that useful but more for looks. Those who added them, you just like the look? Can't decide if I like it better with or without.

Yeah, if there was a way to check my order status (via my VON or what ever) I'd probably check it 3 times a day, regardless if it changed...Heck, If I could find out the day it was being built, I'd figure a way to go on vacation and fly out, and watch it be built etc.
Mount a hula girl in it for the trip over (anyone who knew me and my old subie from yester-year will get the hula girl)

So I had missed the order date for a 2012 STi by a day and after around 6 months in total of waiting (Looking for a car when the 2012's were still able to be ordered) I have finally placed my order for a 2013 SWP STi Limited Sedan! This is going to be my first Subaru and I am super excited! I'm going from a NISMO 350Z so it's going to be a big change but I think that I am going to love this car as much as I love my NISMO if not more. I ordered the STi Short Throw Shifter, Navigation, and 10" Subwoofer. Can't wait for more details on the car's status.

Congrats! Sounds like there's a growing crowd of us who will be waiting (and waiting) in eager anticipation for our first Subaru to arrive. I'm going from a H2 to a WRX limited CBS. Talk about a change. Did you get an ETA?

I'm kinda regretting getting even a WRX if worst comes to worst.

Will I enjoy myself you think? I'm not trying to sound superficial but the alcantara seats is really what made me want an STi, besides it's big brembo pack, suspension, DCCD, bigger turbo (?), and 6 speed trans.

I'm second guessing again... I've been car shopping since january lol...

first world problems here lol
If you look at the stats the WRX is just as fast... Or close enough. Ya you get the center diff controller and bigger brakes turbo and a stiffer suspension... But I guess it depends on what your doing with it. For day to day driving I would get the WRX. It is also cheaper on gas and cheaper to maintain. If you wanna track drive you car I would get the STI.. Just my 2 cents

I would say to get the STi if you can afford it. From reading different threads on the internet, that's what I've found people have said who have owned a WRX then went to an STi. Or people who got a WRX instead of an STi and find themselves with regret. Of course everything is a matter of opinion as well. What is worth it to some people, may not be to others. But like dstorm posted to my fog light question above..."When in doubt ...DO IT." As simple advice as that may be, it does make sense. That way you have no regret. But as I stated earlier, that is if you can comfortably afford whatever it is you are debating.

I wish Subaru had some sort of program for this. It would be very improbable though for anything coming from Gunma. It is very likely that the cars these guys just ordered are already built and perhaps already on the ship. SIA is a different story though. I would pay a fee to be able to take a tour on the day my car was being built and maybe put a hand on it early in the process. I haven't really looked into it, but I almost think it would be possible. When SIA gives a scheduled date for their cars, that is supposedly the day it gets built(not so for Gunma cars). Soooo, if you were able to drop everything at a moments notice to take a trip and you were informed of its scheduled date; then, perhaps you could schedule a tour that day. Now, would they tell you which car is yours? I don't know if it works that way during assembly.

I need to place my order so that I can replace my totaled 2011. Any recommendations for dealers in south eastern PA that are flexible with invoice pricing?

If Dominos can tell you when your pizza is going into the oven, It can't be that crazy to do with a car. How cool would it be to receive pictures of it as it goes through the stages?

A good thing to do for you and others looking to purchase, go on Subaru.com and search for dealers close to you. Then send them all the same email stating that you are going to order a 2013 and that you are looking for their best price. Also let them know that you are contacting other local dealers and whoever offers you the best price will get your business. I'm not sure which ones are invoice flexible, but it is a good starting point.

My salesman told me he jumped at a chance to tour the Indiana plant. Said models are intermingled as they come through the line, and each has some sort of info card attached to the top with details such as options, whether it's a sold order, and also I believe he said location and name of who's receiving it. He was clearly impressed with it enough to tell me all about it

That's awesome! Now if they could just make that a digitally monitored process for buyers, it'd be even better.

Here in central ohio. No one around here even wants to play ball with me. Getting quoted either straight MSRP or 100-200 off MSRP. They all just say "since this takes from our allocation we wont lower the price". This is incredibly disappointing! Been trying to get ahold of one FOREVER! Anyone have any recommendations on dealer in Ohio? Or hell even neighboring states?

When they opened the order system on the 15th, there was a special anouncement that re-vamped the entire order system and how it allocates us cars. Sold orders used to come out of the entire region, and not take away much from the dealers stock or "organic" allocation.

Dealers started abusing this by quoting ridiculous prices for customers if they ordered, since it wouldn't really hurt them. Now it REALLY hurts them, so dealers had to all re-evaluate their business models regarding orders. My store included. It is a big part of why my thread (linked on the first page here) was shut down and the crazy pricing I was offering needs to be changed.

In the long run it is a good thing overall(for the market and the dealers, not you guys). It will just take some adjusting to.

Yeah. I am holding off on my order for my STi from Evanston Subaru. I was currently at invoice pricing, and was wondering if you guys could do any better? Do you think you could PM me your best offer on a base STi?

I'm beginning to second guess my purchase as well. Any suggestions?
