Default FR-S Service Manual

It appears, according to the page at https://techinfo.toyota.com/techInfo...ary%20Contents, that the FR-S Service Manual is now available online at techinfo.toyota.com. One can purchase a two-day subscription for only $15 and, according to the site's FAQ:
Quote:
All subscriptions expire at midnight, Pacific Time on the last day of your term. This means a two-day subscription may actually provide greater than 48 hours of usable access.
Thus, a clever person who begins his two-day subscription at 12:15AM PT actually gets 71.75 hours of access for his $15. Not a bad deal.

I've never used Toyota's TIS, so if anyone here does purchase a subscription, please post details here about your experience.

Subaru's costs more, interestingly.

Subaru's version is not yet available (at least to the outside world):

Subaru's minimum charge is $34.95 for a 72-hour subscription.

I get TIS access fo' free. I went through the "new car feature" portion last week. Mostly nice to see all the specs and see exactly what diff, AT, etc they are using. At some point I'll go through the repair manual where you can see exploded views of practically everything (especially the neat mechanical bits). There are usually some cool tidbits about the exterior styling and why they have a certain shape here and what it is supposed to convey. I don't recall seeing that portion for the FR-S.

My price for an FR-S is $22,700.

but...

I have a Prius v on order instead.

but...

We have a baby on the way.

I'm very curious about the rear diff syspension. Since 05, at least, I've had to do something about the bushings. I wonder what they've done on the BRZ.

4 bushings. Don't remember seeing what they were made of.

I'm curious about those four bushings, but especially those two rear ones. How Subaru implemented that bushing will tell me a lot.

Front 2 bushings are on vertical posts (control motion in the same plane as the road). Back 2 are horizontal posts with the bushing seated in stamped holes in the subframe (look like the would maintain position up/down and left/right.

That's the same as the rest... it is the bushing material and construction that I mean. The STi, for example, has, at a minimum, three of those bushings reinforced with inserts.

Reinforceable bushings can be identified by sight, they have holes in them. Those holes, made for compliance, allows unwanted drivetrain movements as a consequence. My curiosity is simply... are the BRZ's diff bushings the same as OEM on other Subaru's, or a better one specific, part number-wise, to the BRZ. There's where details in a service/parts manual come in.

The FR-S would have those in Toyota part number format, so you'd have to wait until the BRZ manual is available.
