Default Congratulations DrKelso, the MWSOC Top Scoob Locals Only Winner !!

Hi everyone. My name is Nick and I live in the suburbs of Chicago.

This is my first time owning a Subaru and I love every aspect of it. The aggressive Subaru styling, the fit and finish of the interior trim and, of course...the power! I have a personal history of Honda/Toyota ownership, having owned 2 Celicas, an MR2, a Prelude, a Fit and an Acura RL; not to mention that my father used to race Toyotas back in the 80s before he met my mom.

Having grown up with a wrench-head for a father, I was always around the car "scene". Whether it was just riding along with my dad to his Toyota club gatherings or eventually modifying my own cars and bringing him along to car meets of my own, the cars were always a way of bonding for us.

I first purchased this car because I felt I wanted a car that I could have fun with while still being a good family car that could transport my family safely. My wife and I found out we were pregnant last February and I knew that only a Subaru would do. The legendary Symmetrical AWD system and 5-star crash safety ratings combined with the 6-speed manual gear box and turbocharged flat-four cylinder engine proved the perfect combination of features for us to purchase as our 2nd car.

The decision was made and I rolled off the lot with this...my 2008 Spark Silver Subaru STI with only 20,000 miles on the odometer. Since then, I've been very busy trying to do whatever it is I could do to make this Subaru become MY Subaru. With the help of some local shops and the dozens of friends I've made along the way, I feel that I'm finally close to achieving the vision I had for this car.

Note: this car is still daily driven 15 miles each way to work and back regardless of weather.

Looks nice but there's no way I could justify $9000 or w/e it cost to get that full varis kit. **** aint cheap!

Definitely not cheap but also definitely not $9k haha. This particular variation of the kit was about half that. These parts might be costly, but quality and originality are priceless

Here's a picture that made it's way onto the front page of the Varis Official Website (varis.co.jp). It has since been replaced by one of iND's cars, but it was definitely cool to see the respect coming straight from Varis, themselves.

Also, by a stroke of very excellent fortune, I came into ownership of another set of wheels. A very rare limited edition set of Volk TE37SL in prototype blue. One of the first sets in the country in this color, the only set in this sizing, and the FIRST set in this color on a Subaru (some Evo X guy beat me to it for first in North America). These wheels were absolutely beautiful and it was a great way to close out the car show season for 2012. The wheels have since been sold, but not before helping me take 2nd place at Another Level Carshow. Because of the change in color scheme, the car had to go sans vinyl for the show. I felt completely naked and boring without the graphics, but the car still held its own against some stiff competition

I would have kept them, but I've got some big plans for next year and these wheels just won't work with what I've got in mind.
