Default 2011 E63 AMG Paint Correction

Thought you guys might enjoy this solely because it's a gorgeous car.

Good friend of mine came to me with this poor, abused, and neglected 2011 Mercedes E63 AMG with the hopes that I clean it up a bit.

I'll keep this short and sweet, enjoy the pictures.

Car was dropped off with a force field of dirt and filth on it that took over 2 hours to clean and claimed the life of my microfiber wash mits.

Car was covered in swirls and RIDS

And the worst part of it all, the paint readings were subpar. Highest I encountered was 109. 8X was common throughout the hood, roof, fenders, and trunk. This was taken into account with my plan of correction.

Onto some 50/50's and correction shots

Haze was removed with further polishing steps.

After Menzerna-SF4000

And finally, the only thing that matters in a detail thread. SUNSHOTS!

Front bumper plastic was later cleaned and sealed with Wolf's Trim Guard

Thanks for looking!

Tony

Awesome work! My OBP subie is in need of paint correction. How much does that kind of detail cost? (I'm almost affraid to ask lol)...

It depends on the detailer and how much correction you're looking for. Luckily subaru paint is very soft so it corrects easily meaning less aggressive products are needed (generally speaking) and less money out of your pocket! If you want anymore info on it shoot me a PM

Thanks for all the kind words. The owner was very pleased with the end results, on arrival the car looked grey from all the heavy swirls.

looking great. 5-7 years ago when i was really into detailing i remember that mercedes' used a clearcoat called "ceramiclear". it was a pain to get decent correction out of. did the newer cars still have this issue?

It was one of the hardest I have come across. It took several passes to workout the swirls and the light scratches which was quite annoying. A two day project ended up takin four.

Thank you! We're in the talks now of repeating the process to his BMW M6, which is just as sick looking. The only downside is it's a silver so there won't be any crazy before/afters

I'll have to ask him and get back to you in a PM. I know the company is Vorsteiner but I cannot recall the model.

I believe he'd take them to a cheap-o car wash where the workers dry the car with towels that look like shop rags .

When he came to pick up the car I put the fear of god in him. Now all washes will be performed by me.

Two hours JUST to wash it. +/- 20 hours broken up over 4 days for the paint correction.
