Default Anyone ever improve their vision without wearing glasses/contacts/surgury??

Just curious if anyone has ever followed those eye expercises to improve their eyesight? And if so, did it actually work?

To put my eye site into perspective, I took my glasses off and am typing this sitting ~18" from the scrren and the only way I can see the letters is cuz the text is about this size (on a 21" screen).
Thank you FireFox for letting me crank up the text size!

I tried it years ago. I did the exercise during class while I was bored as ish.

It seemed to work for a short period of time (i.e. a few months) when I noticed I could see thing just marginally better at medium distances, but soon thereafter I stopped doing the exercises (class ended) & noticed my vision was more "normal" & my optometrist confirmed my vision was more or less the same from my last exam from a year ago.

Personally I think it's a bunch of crud.

The See Clearly Method is just the old Dr. William Bates method from the 1920s reworked a bit. They took out the parts where he tells patients to stare at the sun for brief moments and read by dim light. The rest they left pretty much the same.

Check out a book written back in 1956 called, "The Truth About Eye Exercises" by Phillip Pollack.

Was it a single page long, stating simply: "HE TOLD YOU TO STARE AT THE SUN, PEOPLE...COME ON!! "

Vision Therapy is IMO opinion, for the most part...bunk.

Well why is it bunk? (I am trying to learn here, so bare with me)

I mean the focussing of the eye is controlled by some means through muscles, right? And correct me if I am wrong, but muscles become weaker when not used, right? Well putting on glasses just makes the eyes more comfortable (thus use less mucles to focus), which just makes them weaker, and thus making your vision worse and worse, which then makes you want to go to get a stronger perscription and round and round it goes.
What part of that cycle is wrong?

My vision is getting worse and worse - while I don't ever expect to not wear glasses, even if I can keep them from getting worse, I'd be willing to do it.

My wife's vision got worse, and she got glasses. Then, about 3 months later, she didn't need the glasses anymore.

Of course, in her case the poor vision was caused by high blood sugar from undiagnosed diabetes.

P.S. Any links to the eye exercises? I am too lazy for teh google.

Improving vision without glasses/contacts/surgery? I think it's called "squinting."

AFAIK, most of your poor vision comes from your eye being slightly out of shape, so the image focuses in the wrong spot, not from lack of muscles to focus the image.

I wish there was some other way to fix eyesight....mine is HORRIBLE!!!!

I'm diabetic, so I may be ineligible for this topic, but I used to have terrible eye sight due to bad blood glucose control.

When I started taking better care of myself, my vision improved and I started getting headaches because my prescription was getting too strong. But I was eating really healthy and eating a lot of good-for-your-eyes-food.

I've kind of relapsed back into terrible blood sugar control, and eating the worst crap ever, and my vision is currently getting worse.

But I would think that since my vision did get better, it might be possible to correct slight blurriness with good diet and exersice (not those eye exercises).
