yeah I believe many OBD2 scanners can monitor this as well. I know mine can.

There aren't any OBD2 scan tools that can monitor a WRX's injector duty cycle. The only standalone solution for logging injector duty cycles is DeltaDash from www.ecutek.com.

exscuse me? The scan tool I bought reads the IDC from the ECU... I have to look and see what it is but it's not deltadash.. that is just one example of a scan tool... Mine does not have nearly that resolution though so would not be as useful for tuning but cost a heck of a lot less.

The SEC PSI^3 unit shows injector pulse width which is just one calculation away from IDC.

Please do "look and see what it is." The WRX ECU doesn't report IDC to even a Subaru Select Monitor (the dealer's tool) or to DeltaDash. DeltaDash, however, can compute IDC from other data reported by the ECU when interrogating it using Subaru's proprietary (non-OBD2-compliant) communications protocol. If a scan tool relies solely on OBD-2 communciations protocols to interrogate the WRX ECU, it cannot report IDC.

Default alternate method

On a somewhat related note, you can monitor MAF values with some OBD-2 scan tools (I use a pocketlogger). Assume values for safe AFR, fuel density, injector size, and desired max IDC and you can easily come up with a maximum safe lb/min air flow target. Off the top of my head, I'd say it's somewhere around 26-28 lb/min for stock injectors.

...and no, my pocketlogger does not give any injector data.

-my 0.02

edited to add injector size to list of assumed values.
