Well the front bumper is different, which makes me think the grille is different, which makes me think the hood is different.
that hood is pretty crazy lookin. lol what could the scoop be contributing to besides looks and increased drag? Unless thats the hood for new 2014 wrx

The $179 carbon fiber grille is $100 cheaper than the official plastic sport mesh grille. That could be interesting if the fit is good. |

this dealer says: "The Crosstrek gets unique bumpers and grille" so im guessing the aftermarket cf xv hood matches with those not with impreza. |

Subaru lists the same part numbers for the sport grill on the impreza as well as the XV:
Sport Mesh Grille So the carbon one should work just fine. The XV grille is "unique" because of the way the center wings and emblem are, not the shape or size. This means that the hood should be the same too. I'd be interested in the grille, since it is a less expensive version of the Subaru sport mesh grille, but also since it doesn't have the emblem... hmmm... |

Am I at risk of running into any warranty issues installing the Perrin aftermarket crank pulley, or has that pretty much been proven to work reliably with no negative effects?

From what ive heard it really depends on the dealership and there is ALWAYS a risk for warrantee issues. Whether the risk is worth it is up to you.
The dealership should only void warrantee work if the aftermarket part caused it but they dont all play by the rules. In my opinion its pretty low riskk as long as install is done correctly. Good Luck. |

We hear this argument so often..but what's the real burden of proof and at what level? Yea probably contributed, might have? Either way if you want to fight that battle against a corporation I'd expect having to hire a lawyer.

Magnuson-Moss Act: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuson%E2%80%93Moss_Warranty_Act
This is what protects you. But I agree with EnterTheDragon, you will have to hire an attorney to fight them if it gets to that. Having said that, SOA will most likely not get to that level since it costs them thousands of dollars to go to court. Just use common sense, if the aftermarket part has any chance of causing the failure of any part, install it with the understanding that you may have to take responsibility. You gotta pay to play. |

Gotta pay to play, guys, unless you can convince SOA that the part was always faulty or they just appreciate your loyalty enough to cover the cost of repair.
I would advise never touching the engine with aftermarket parts unless you're prepared to pay for the (potentially) costly repairs right away or are willing to go without a car for a while. If it's your daily driver, I wouldn't bother. With my 2011 WRX, it was my daily driver. With my BRZ, it's not quite so critical if I mod the BRZ and it goes down for a bit. I purchased it so that I COULD mod it and race it, basically. I would add a cold air intake to a 2.0i Impreza before going to pulleys. Also an exhaust would do you good. Suspension tweaks and weight loss would help make your car FEEL faster, for sure. There are so many things I'd do before swapping out the pulley. Just my $0.02. Has anyone done any tests to see about cross compatibility of front lip spoilers from other model years? i.e. those that were designed for a wrx/sti? I like the style of the oem front lip with the raised sides, but with that price tag it isn't happening anytime soon.. Thanks!

Especially since the first botched park job will destroy it.

Wow. So you think adding a cold air intake and reducing torque while gaining nothing but potential sound is a better idea than decreasing rotational mass on a mechanical part thus reducing strain, perhaps gaining an mpg or two, and increasing response? This car is more related to an rs. Wrx info no longer applies. Boring I know.. but thats the cold harsh truth. Best thing you can do is improve suspension and efficiency. No real hp gains will ever be seen on this model. Make it more fun to drive. Youll never get much "faster" |

does anyone know if installing the rear strake kit is possible on the base model? I know it's for the sports model but I really like the look of it

I haven't been on this thread in quite a while, but this seems relevant (for all those seeking an axle back exhaust)

yup.
I haven't seen one around the Seattle area sporting a front lip yet but I'm sure theyre out there.. I'm ok with an Ebay product since its bound to get a scrape out two on the way up a driveway eventually.. I just don't want to order it and the width or curve be way off and look goofy. |

Just need to install side skirts first. They are alittle over $200 or so last time I checked. But I dont think they come painted either. I have a base too. Theres not much stopping us from up converting.

If you're going to install the strake kit and side skirts, then you're going to want the aero mud flaps in the rear of the car too, in order to continue the visual line created by the side skirts and the strake kit. This job will not be cheap, by the time you buy the parts and get them painted to match.
