Question tire size performance in rain

In a WRX is there much performance difference between 205/55-16 and 225/45-17 in the wet stuff? Specifically, with hi-perf summer tires.

The 205s will probably perform better, assuming the same model tire. Wider tires generally have lower wet performance because it is harder for them to pump water out from under the tread.

depends how deep the water is.
if its just 'wet' the wider tire will prolly be better.

if its deep puddles the smaller tire will be more resistant to hydroplaning
