Default Turbo Timer + Alarm = Impatience.

I got my HKS turbo timer installed today - works great.. however I can't set the car alarm until the engine stops running. I don't guess anybody has found some work around to this problem?

Yes we have found a solution. I can't remember off hand which wires you need to cut but there are two if you have the factory alarm system. Try doing a search, that's how I found it. Sorry to hear you got the HKS TT. I just junked my in favor of the better Blitz DC TT. The HKS one runs your car much longer than necessary. It's not smart enough to know when there is boost or not.

That above link sounds like a standard TT install. I too would love to be able to set my alarm while the TT was active and the car running so I would not have to wait for it to shut off to set the alarm.

I finally found it after a search.. (duh). It's really pretty simple. Disconnect the green/black wire on the control module above the fuse box, you have to remove the knee panel under the steering wheel to get to it. Unplug it, and either back it out or cut the wire. Under the e-brake center console is another security box that you must disconnect the gray wire. I'm not entirely sure what all this is 'disabling'.. but it does work.

As for the HKS turbo timer. I already don't like it. It can apparently only do one of the fuctions at a time???? If you don't have it set to that particular mode you want, it doesn't perform that function. That's pretty lame.

and you forgot to wire a jumper acc wire to each of the modules where you cut the wire. Everything is not fine... set off you alarm and then try to reset it

if you do the jumper wires for acc on the link above that I wrote, everything works just fine, take key out, set alarm and wrx keeps on idling.

It's not a standard turbo timer install at all.

Ok.. since getting the proper instructions (thanks!) and splicing an acc wire to both of the control modules wires which were cut, now the alarm doesn't set at all until the engine stops (back to square one before cutting wires). After cutting the wires, it worked.. after splicing the acc into them it no longer works. Whad I do wrong?

Thx.

splice the acc into the wires coming out of the modules. Oh, and it's car acc, not TT acc

Then you hooked up the acc wire from the tt to the acc wire of the ignition. You don't use the acc wire from the tt. If you used a harness, you might want to cut it.

If that's hooked up, it will give the symptoms you are describing!
