It would make a good early Christmas present to be able to lay eyeballs on you.

Cool, it appears that I may not need it after all. Lots of technicalities not followed correctly.FERS (Federal Employee Retirement System) may have issues with me having a federal job while retired. A part time/low paying job at most.

you have no oilfield experience.....you'd hafta show up and work a gig like mine for a while....be a low paid worm for a while and then you would be much more likely to get into something like mud engineer and make $1000/day like they do

there are several mud engineer schools that cose $5k-$10k but ya almost guaranteed a job after ya go to them

no-no-n0

has NOTHING to do with soil and water

HAS to do with drilling fluid used to drill wells

usually something like 80/20 diesel/water with all sorts of chemicals mixed along with barite

A mud engineer for a big company can earn $1000/ day

yes...that is one thousand dollars per day or maybe a bit more

an average one for a smaller company can easily make $600-$800/day

now that is some **** right there....

oh yeah....ya work 7 on 7 off or 14 on 14 off....so ya only work 6 months outta the year and many of these guys get salary + day rate so they get paid when they arent working, too

go ahead...laff all ya want...but that kind of cheeze is no laughing matter.

I am posting this here because I share too many friends with my son on Facebook and don't want to embarrass him
OK everyone I have been a member of this community for a very long time and have never asked for anything. But I am asking for some help now for my son,
Short story is he needs some tires for his car he has 205/40/17's he bought used a few months ago and one has a belt separating and it looks like the other 3 are on the way out too. So does anyone have any 17's laying around?
Long story
For those of you that don't know he did a 4 year + 4 months stint in the army as a combat engineer, 19 months of that in Iraq, they extended him in Iraq 4 months past his ETS date because there weren't any replacements available. He has worked various jobs since getting out but with the times like they are he seems to be in a steady loop of lay offs like me. This last time he was laid off from the night shift on Thursday, filed for unemployment on Friday then was called back to work on Monday for the day shift, what they failed to tell him was it was just to fill in for someone gone on vacation. Not knowing this he went on his unemployment page and cancelled his claim. For whatever reason that has threw a monkey wrench in the system, when he was laid off again a week and a half later the website said he had an open claim already and to just pick back up claiming his weeks, after a month and no check he called and waited on hold for over 2 hours and they told him he should have filed a new claim. So he does and they then accuse him of trying to scam the system and file on two claims! This has been going on since the last week of July and he still has not received a check! He wasn't too worried about it as he was in the process of swapping from the reserves to the Air force only to find at the last minute the "slight" hearing loss the army said he had was in fact 45%. While I am sure all this will get resolved he is out donating plasma for gas money and can in no fashion afford a set of tires and we just spent every last dime we had replacing water damaged sub floor in our bathroom and bedroom.

Thanks Uncle Scotty, this whole mess has been like a slap in the face to me, He has been so patient and polite with the people at the unemployment agency, I got on the phone and went off on them, after I finished with the guy on the phone yesterday I was surprised the police didn't show up at my door.
