Also wondering for a fully built motor which turbo would you go with gt35r .82 or 1.06? when is full boost going to come in

hah funny, dont think im a newb, i forgot my password on my other account. the turbo isnt really the problem. its just what exact parts. I dont want to go full race block, but really reliable if im planning on getting 400+whp. I have talked to a couple shops. and all said thats it up to me. didnt make since to me neither

if your hp goal is 400whp,
just pick between GT30R or GT35R in 0.82 trim - easy as that
of course you'll need the supporting mods
800cc - 1000cc inj
dual Walbros or Bosch 044
etc....

A set of pistons will make it reliable.

I'd consider rods as well. Forged rods are pretty cheap insurance in my opinion considering if they go you've pretty much trashed a block. And I have seen 2 blocks with a blown rod, 1 was un-salvageable, and the other need around $2k in machine work/parts to run again.

I'm running Pauter's as do all my customers...I hate eagle...carrillo are too expensive for most. Crower's are nice too.

While you are in there , I would pick up some good bearings. I have seen some forged blocks fail , and everything looked great...except a bearing.

true that...so pistons, rods, bearings and arp headstuds for a bit more insurance as it is easy to turn up the boost on race gas but not so easy to put a headgasket back together

Does it really matter? Do you just want bragging rights? at 400whp with a ZERO Det. tune, you won't even break a stock rod. why even want to know which forged aftermarket is 'stronger'? You aren't gonna break those either.

Go to the race shops near you and talk to them. Those guys blow up motors for fun and R&D. THEY know what will handle how much/when/where/why.

You shouldn't ask the 16yr olds on here......Daddy is still paying for everything.

(Well, with the exception of Micah....dear lord I look forward to pics.....and your destruction pics too!!!! )

According to Gadiel's research, make that 600whp. Oh, and lay off the children...someday they'll be paying into SS for you and me.

trust me they will be coming...guess I could start a build pieces thread, but don't where I should put it
now I dumped the billet crank to find where the new subaru oem crank will die (for oiling system ****s and giggles)...and that will be my excuse to run back through the block and o-ring before running the 4202R and 6-spd dogbox

I'd sell it and buy a closed-deck engine .

What would I do? Eactly what I just did!

USDM EJ257 block. Sleeved with heavy collar top sleeves and finished to suit 100mm bore.
CP pistons 8.5-1 comp coated skirts. Altered compression height so I can use long rods
New EJ25 crankshaft with extra oil holes.
Argo billet rods (as your in the US use the Pauters)
ACL race series bearings
12mm JDM oil pump
Block has ported internal oil passages.
Custon large capacity oil pan to eliminate chance of oil aeration
Thats what I curently have in the garage, just in the process of starting to blueprint, final machining and assembly.
