4eat sti swap in a 02 wrx
So after all day of researching i have yet to come up with much usefull information. Is it possible to swap an sti motor into a 4eat wrx... there seems to be a bunch on controversy on the subject, the tranny won't hold up, u can/can't use your stock ecm...etc..... i just want to know is it possible, if it is what would i need besides the motor obviously and will/should i build my 4eat as well??? Any input on the subject would be great.

Any thing is possible, just depends on how much money you want to spend.
Why don't you want a manual? If you want to keep the auto, have you looked into a dog box at all? Are you just wanting the STI motor for a little bit of added power? Our are you going for a crazy power build? |

06-08 wrx's came with automatics and 2.5L's, stock. I wouldn't call the swap "different" but it's your money and your car.
Call around to vendors and ask their professional opinion and a price. |

This would most likely be the response of a shop also upon my assumption. |

yes, you are able to swap an sti motor into your 4eat. Couple of things to think about:
1. AVCS control 2. upgrade TC and VB + tranny cooler? Depending on how much power/turbo you want to add (if just going with a VF series turbo-type power), then you probably don't need to do anything to upgrade your 4eat. getting close to 400 awhp equivalent, you would probably want to upgrade (i.e. tc, vb, and mabye even IPT 4eat build). |

Was anything ever attempted with this. It's not as easy as some think it is here. At least not to have a properly operating car.
