Could a CEL be caused by TurboXS BOV?
My check engine light (CEL) came on today while I was driving. The only real engine mod that I have done is the addition of a TurboXS blow off valve. Had it on there for a while now.
After looking more into it I asume that the CEL only occurs when there is a problem with the emissions out of the car. SO I was thinking that since the BOV makes the engine run richer maybe it is messing up wone of the O2 sensors or something. What do you guys think? Will it go away if I put the factory BOV back on?

First off... did you pull the code? So that you know what it is? (It might be something totally un-related to your blow off valve)
If you did pull the code, what was it? If it was related.... did you put your stock blow off back on, purely for troubleshooting purposes? |

Have not pulled a code cause I do not havea scanner. I need one where can I get one?
So I think I am going to put the old BOV back on and then bull the battery tomorrow and see if it comes back. The I guess I have to take it to the dealler. |

I've never seen a TXS bov cause a CEL. Pull the code and find out what it's saying. I'll bet it is something totally unrelated.

I had a TurboXS BOV on my car and it caused a CEL. It was the code for "right bank rich". I kept clearing it and the CEL kept coming back. I put the stock BOV back on and have never gotten that code again. It seemed to be much more driveable with the stock BOV also. Needless to say, I sold the BOV and will run the stock one for quite sometime.

Thanks for the information. As a side note, Phil and Mark both run the stock valve. On a WRX a BOV is just a sound mod. -Nathan |

Yeah I did not pull the code but I think it was the BOV. I have no other mods done to the car. Plus I put the factory BOV back on and pulled the battery. So far no more CELs and it is running great.

DO you guys think a 50/50 BOV would clear up this problem? And are the 50/50 BOVs loud?

I have a TbXS BOV. I've had it for about a month with no problems. I'd hate to give it though, its an awesome sound.
How long have you had it before the CEL? |

I know of a bunch of totally stock cars that had CELs. It could be anything. You have to pull the code to know for sure. -Nathan |

I used a Blitz BOV (full atmospheric and still do). No problems at all on my car or any other car that has installed one. I doubt it is the BOV that is the problem.

Adjusting it in what way.
I am not using any washers and the valve remains closed at idle. |
