Default Window tinting

Hi everyone,
I currently have an 05 wrx and i'm picking up my new 2013 sti on monday (yayy). I moved to delaware from PA a few years ago, and at the time I had 20% all around on my car. I loved the way it looked, never got pulled over, and never had a problem. When I moved to delaware they have very strict inspection rules and I had to take off the front tint (they have no limits on the back/rear windows). Long story short I got a tint waiver from my doctor and i'm looking to tint my new car shortly after I get it. I was debating going with the 20%, but if I have a waiver I figure I could go darker and get 5% all around. My question is for anyone with super dark tints, does it really obstruct your ability to see at night? obviously it's going to be darker than normal, i'm just worried about not being able to park or see anything. Thanks!
Joe

ultimately yes, but some people say no because they have been driving like that for years so they are used to it.

Yea, a friend had 5% and at night even other headlights were a faint blur. I wouldn't go darker than the 20.

i used to have 10% in my accord and didnt like it so much. I currently have 20% all around and 5% top bar on front. definitely better visibility.

you want to be able to see through your windows @ night. backing up and side to side when on the freeway. what color did you pick for your car? i went with 20% and just got them tinted a couple of days ago. check the members gallery for black car thread. You dont want to be pulled over suspicious and cops are NOT lenient about it and they will key your window causing you to redo them all and thats $$$

Use the "Search" next time tons of threads

35% is plenty dark enough at night for me...

...and it would get old real quick if I were to be pulled over constantly for dark tint, even if I had a Doctor's note.

What is this doctors waiver thing? And how do I obtain one?

Go to an eye doctor and complain about how bright light hurts your eyes.

I would go with 35% if you are worried about cops, 20% if you dont care.

Basically an eye doctor says you medically need tinted windows because of headaches/light sensitivity etc.

Thanks so much for the replies everyone. I have my choice between 5 and 20 (theres nothing in between in the 3M non-metalic tint). I think either would look good on a white car, but i'm worried the 5% would look too much like "hey im a 16 year old kid check me out", when i'm really 25 and working for a bank...although the giant wing probably ruins that image enough

haha the giant wing. Yea i was thinkin the same thing. the cops are lookin at you stis either way.

i would stay with 20%. 5% would be too dark at night IMO. you could prob go to 15 without sacraficing visibility if it was available. good luck.

Edit: read a little closer and you have had 20% sorry....

my good friend has an h2 with 5% all around, and i had to drive his car once and it was horrible. I left the front windows down at night so I could see. It was ridiculous.

Like someone said above, headlights behind you are just a blur, they don't even catch your eye. Forget about seeing a car that's in or close to your blind spot... Or anything on a dark road without having the windows down.

20% is your best bet.

I have 15% all around and I wouldn't go darker than that. I would say that 20% might be the lowest anyone should go. I've had to roll down my windows so I could see on those neighborhood streets with minimal street lights...

That being said the 15% looks better than the 20%... Pick your poison I guess.

I live in S Jersey and work in Wilmington, I got 20 on the back windows only, not worth both eyes on me, they already are looking at me anyway

20% is the way to go. I wouldn't want to go any darker than that.

I have 15% all around (except windshield) on my wrx and i love it. at night however, i have to put my windows down to back in my drive way, but it is fine out around town with street lighting and other cars. but thats the darkest i would go is 15%
