you are going to have to register the car in california, so you will need to go a smog. if you have an aftermarket downpipe, no matter if it is catted, you need to put it back to stock for that one day you get smogged, any mod above the dp you need to put back to stock as well....dp is the minimum. no ?'s asked.....

just a few minor mods.

gt30
catless
ppg gearbox with strait cuts
nitrous
header/uppipe
coilovers
wheels

looks pretty stock-ish from outside

i was planning to take the nitrous off., and put stock cats on but is it a necessary to register the car in California if your just stationed there

It probably depends on where your car is kept, but when my roommate moved to California from another state, he received a letter from the CHP within two weeks. It told him that he needed to register the car in California and get California plates or his car would be impounded.

do you know how long your gonna be stationed here? Maybe there's some way to delay the smog if you might be here temporarily since your in the military? But yea putting on the stock downpipe is the way to go, you don't need the up pipe cat thats what others have told me. But thats regarding people with just engine management and no cats, not sure if the gt30 pushes it over the limit. Maybe I should move to Virginia if you can pass with that stuff...

yeah my hubby is stationed in alaska so im runnin around with ak platessince july... can't get mod tickets that way.. i got pulled over in a parking lot in aliso viejo and the cop made me pop my hood and saw my intake and bov(swearing it was nitrous) exhuast etc... all she did was give me a hard time saying i should be paying CA taxes or some *****. im still looking into whether or not i can be reffed tho. is this your first pcs? i believe military dont necessarily have to change their permanent address since they move all the time, so i think your safe with keeping it in virginia.

just invest in xylene and keep like 23492384 cans in joor car to up the octane. and if youre lucky, you might forget to put the cap on a bottle one day and pass out cause you are so loaded and crash into a sandbox safety trap and do a backflip, and land safely. then you will realize not to carry all that xylene in joor car and promise yourself that you wont do it again.

but yea you are technically from whatever state you are registered from, and as long as you have a valid mil.ID you are good with emissions and all that. it is only when you register with cali that you need to comply with their laws
