Broken Motorsports takes 3rd overall in their production class wrx, 45 Seconds behind 2nd place. They lost 30 of those due to a boost leak that was fixed by the service crew. Took first in class.

We are also happy to report that Team Broken's 2nd car from a joint venture with Gotti Racing finished 9th overall. This was Team Broken's and Gotti Racing first joint event with Team Broken providing service support for Gotti Racing
This was a great finish for them as their production class 02 WRX did not fair so well with a broken 3rd gear during the evening stages on Saturday. Team Broken's servcie crew drained and removed as much metal from the trans as they could during service to allow them to continue the rally. We are extremely pleased with the Rally. Contgrats to Billy and Jeremey on their podium finish And Congrats to Matt and Austin on their top 10! We will see everyone at Rally NY! Jay Team Broken Chief Mechanic. just wanted to say thank you to all of my crew that came out to this event.
Wished we all could have celebrated the finish things you missed. Our first ever "impound" of the car after the event. They just went over a few things in the car to make sure that it was fully legit and nothing was changed from the original spec at the start of the race. Our first ever Press conference with 1st and 2nd overall winners. there will be an official press release in a day or 2 once we get some more info from me and Jeremy and the crew on paper. |

Team Broken Racing 3rd overall 1st in class at Black River Stages Sept. 19-20. Final event of the Atlantic Rally Cup
In Team Broken's latest rally, driver William Petrow and co-driver Jeremy Neyhart had another successful finish. "This is a very exciting moment for our team. Jeremy and I have been getting better at working together each rally we do. Our improvements over our 3 rallies together have increased our confidence, speed and control with great results. We are very lucky to have a large skilled crew that sorts out all mechanical support we need. They did an excellent job this weekend. We are hoping for another great result at International Rally New York on October 23-24th to secure the USRC Production AWD national title" says William. Black River Stages is a tight, twisty and technical rally with day and night stages over 89 miles of special stage competition. No recce or Shakedown was provided for the event and proved to be difficult for some teams. The arrival of driver and crew proved to be a challenge due to several unforeseen problems which put the start of the race in question for the team. Ironically William Petrow said "I am not even in the mood to rally at this point." at 5:30 am Saturday morning when they finally arrived in Harrisville, NY the morning of the start. Luckily once he gets in his Production Subaru WRX it seems distractions can leave him to concentrate on notes and driving. The hurdles seemed to dissipate once the team was all together and the rally began. Day 1 was a blur from the Olsen/Kettleson crash and consequent delays to the teams first full stages in dark woods. A boost leak settled the night stages not in their advantage. Starting on SS5 the boost leak pulled lots of power from the car and continued for SS6 until the following service where the crew discovered a bolt had backed out of the intercooler. A quick fix with a new bolt and intercooler back in place found the team with the usual power again. However, the 7-9 stages that were planned for the final leg of the evening were cancelled due to concern for cold temperatures with volunteer workers not being prepared. After parc expose on Day 2 the team was ready to get to work. The sun was out and their times began to rebound from the first of the days stages. Proving confident to keep class rival David Allan/Jimmy Brandt at bay, the new battle was on with Viorel Dobasu/Alex Kihurani. This car posed a speed factor much higher than that of the teams production class vehicle. At the beginning of Day 2 Dobasu had a 2 second lead over Team Broken with David Allan still within striking distance only 20 seconds behind. William and Jeremy's first stage time of the day was faster than both competitors. They stayed in sync for the remainder of the day chipping away at Dobasu and the RallyBrat's lead from day 1 securing their Super Stock class win and 3rd overall position. This rally started with a struggle before the event, then was filled with many exciting firsts for the team including a podium finish. "I am happy to learn that our Production prepped car has the potential to put us in such an unexpectedly high finish." "BRS was my first time in full flight. The car flies very well" says William. This was also a first for the driver competing at night. "Driving at full speed in the dark is quite interesting, getting used to the lights and lack of tree line was surprisingly easy to adjust to." Two notable retirements helped the team's efforts in getting a podium finish. Olson/Kettleson as mentioned, had a bad accident on SS2 and O'Brien/Jozwiak were also out with a mechanical failure on SS1, but returned later after fixing their issues. Other notable finishes were the novice team of Jason Smith and Jared Lantzy in their P2 Impreza. They were doing well their first time out and worked their way to 8th overall. Unfortunately they had an off which did some damage to control arms but were able to finish the race. Team Gotti of Matt Gottlieb and Austin Gager lost 3rd and 5th gears in their SS WRX on Saturday nights stages and were able to finish another race with odds stacked against them. Team Gotti was serviced by Broken Motorsports crew in a joint venture to help competitors with crew experience. The team will again be providing service for Team Gotti at the International Rally New York next month. William and Jeremy were the 3rd car to arrive on the scene of the disturbing Olsen and Kettleson accident. Jimmy Brandt did a great job at getting the following cars slowed down and looking for help from competitors and spectators. "We are very happy that both Bob and Conrad are reported OK. Team Broken wishes them both a speedy recovery and hope to see them out on stages soon" Team Broken is competing in the USRC for top honors in the Production AWD class this season. International Rally New York is the final round of the USRC and is located in Narrowsburg, NY on October 23-24, 2009. Currently William Petrow is in first place for the Production AWD class and is tied for 4th overall in the series along side Ken Block and Martin Donnelly. With the season almost wrapped up, the team is already reaching for next year in which they are planning to tackle as many of the Rally America events as possible in SP class. The team is in search of more sponsors to help with their hopeful new 2009 Subaru WRX SP build. William Petrow stated "The full prep will be done by Broken Motorsports at their NJ facility. We are very excited to get in a newer car for the 2010 season and are looking forward to the new stages and fierce competition that the SP class holds." Team Broken Racing is Broken Motorsports, LLC's racing effort. Broken Motorsports was opened in 2008.
