Rancer that scares the $hit out to me, I want to start modding mine power wise. I've been putting a list together but maybe I should make sure I have a beater before I mod anything

Just drop in a set of pistons and then you know you're good for any of the basic mods most of us do. Yeah you'll want a built block if you want to upgrade the turbo and look for a lot more power, but pistons in an EJ257 block is good for more power than most of us will ever reach for our DD cars

If you mod the car and you have fun with it, it will break. If its modded you will be denied warrantee service. These pistons are very fragile... they crack stock. Theres a very high chance that you will be shelling out almost 4k on a build when it happens. My car has only been down for a week though and I'm getting it back tomorrow.

It lasted from 4k miles to 20k miles at 335whp and 400+wtq 20 passes at the track, boost and WOT almost everyday. I had fun with my car and I am in no way surprised to see a cracked ring land. Gotta pay to play.

Keep your car stock or be prepared to build it.

Did you have a spare block or did you just drop the pistons into yours?

If you have fog lights I suggest doing this DIY I put together, costs less than $15 and a half hour of time. My fog cracked, wish I did this earlier.

It seems a majority of people here have mud flaps. Considering Subaru doesn't even make any for our gen WRX, I'm having trouble believing they are worth it.

People not running flaps, have you guys seen damage to the sides of your cars with oem sized wheels/tires?

Yup. I run stock wheels and tires and I have a bunch of rock damage immediately behind my wheel wells.

The Subaru paint is terrible to start with. It's soft, thin and how it wears kind of depends on what part of the world you drive. If you are in a southern city with nice clean, paved roads you may be okay but if you are in cities with poor roads or northern cities that sand roads in the winter they are a must as you will be surprised how many rocks the front tires kick back. You will in time notice your rocker panel and quarter panel near the rear doors will chip up and feel sand blasted to the touch.

I am running the front flaps only for now. Not necessarily by choice, a few of the rear clips are missing. I kind of like the look thought, was never a big fan of how the rear flaps stand out so damn much on the hatch.

I don't see why a wrx needs mud flaps more than any other car. if you spend a lot of time in the dirt you should probably get them.

also STI's blowing up at 335whp..thats just

Whp dont mean jack ****. All about that tq...and he was well over 400 wtq...

Flaps are a preferance, I used my only in wintertime. And while there was no damage, there was way less dirt and kicked up stuff on the car.

so, all these cars make more torque than hp..whats the difference which one you reference? hp is just a calculation of torque

horse power is how fast you hit the wall while torque is how far you bring the wall with you... horse power sells cars, torque wins races...blah blah

torque is what breaks things. a subaru with 335 whp and 350wtq is less likely to break a piston then a subaru with 335whp and 420wtq.

even though they both will break because these pistons are garbage. if you mod it and you have fun with it then be ready to fix it... that is the bottom line with these cars. the question is not IF but WHEN

show me an ej25 that makes 335whp and only 350 lb ft..lol

HP = Torque x RPM ÷ 5252
