EMU on EJ18
i have the turbo installed on the car now, it's a 97 EJ18 with ej22T heads on, the thing is i don't know how to install the emu, if someone here have done the diagram to plug this thing to my stock ecu and if wants to share some info, i would love that!
i have a set of 550cc side feed yellows waiting for this too, i'm located in south jersey and looking to get my car tuned asap! where i can go for a good tune in south jersey????

snake32: I also drive a 1997 impreza brighton. i currently have just a K&N intake and a stromung manifold back exhaust. im looking to add some power to my car. i was told by someone a while ago that both ej18 and ej20 have the same esencial block and head setup. So i started thinking that i could possably just buy the full stock WRX turbo setup and then just get my car tuned for about 10psi of boost and buy an ECU. from your experience does this sound like it would work or is it way harder than that? or would possibly swapping in an ej207 be easier? it would be great if you could let me know if you had any problems with your project.

you have to have dual port heads to run a wrx setup. The wrx ecu does not work on a ej18 harness.

so you think that it would be better to just get some ej22t heads? Are you running a stock WRX turbo setup or one off of a carborated ej18? what do you think the max boost i could push without harming my engine?

If i were u, i'll stay on a stock motor and run 5 or 6 psi, cheap power!! Lol! I have done flywheel, crank pulley, ej22t heads, clutchmasters stage 3, ebay header and downpipe, and gaskets, turbo waterpump, new timing belt.. Etc. Damm! It cost me good money, now i know why the others prefer a swap!

if by carborated ej18 you mean ea82 (the 1.8 found in the loyales), those setups are different from a wrx. ea82 turbo was mpfi, but had single port exhaust, and a crazy shaped turbo compressor outlet. also, since the ea82 is the old style motor, heads from one of those are probably not going to bolt up correctly to an ej shortblock.

Okay. so next summer i was planing on putting in a more aggressive clutch becasue the stock one is pretty girly and while im there put in a lighter flywheel. but now im starting to think that it will be easier but a little bit more expensive to just swap in an ej207 or something of equal power, than it would be to boost my engine and then put in an aftermarket clutch and flywheel? if i do swap in an engine, is there any type of plug-in wiring harness or does it have to be done by hand?
