Great thread and great work. +1 on JPM being great guys. Hard workers and great CS. I'm local to them, so I decided to drop by and pick up my shifter boot in person. I was impressed with their passion for the work and their attitudes.

I was able to find these from the install, they are a little bit closer. I didn't roll the edge, just cut it with a sharp razor. It's still holding strong which is why you NEED to use real contact cement for Alcantara.
The reason the edge stays so clean is because Alcantara doesn't fray along the edges and good adhesion from proper gluing techniques. Cheers! - Jason |

I would get the Alcantara directly from JPM Coachworks. You can also get it from Gulf Fabrics but I believe they are the ones supplying it to JPM so your getting the same material. They'll charge you the same price so I vote for supporting JPM instead of the bigger guys. Plus having Alex's support at JPM is worth it's weight in gold. Cheers! - Jason |

Thank you for your kind words, Jason. As for the Alcantara material, Gulf Fabrics is the only official importer of the material for the United States. Even Recaro NA in Michigan purchases from Gulf

Wow absolutely amazing. And so classy but still retaining a sporty feel. Top job buddy.
Few questions. With the door cards, how did you pull the pieces apart. When i had mine off i notice the peices are plasti rivveted together. What was your method to remove them from eachother? Also what thickness is the alcantara you used. |

^^^This, and also, any tips on blade selection for the edge delete? Can you use a low setting on a heat gun to achieve similar results as a steamer? This thread has truly inspired me, amazing work my friend!!
EDIT: Will the DAP Weldwood High Strength Spray Adhesive JPM offers do the job as well as your brushed method? Or would you suggest brushing to control the amount and add texture for the material to grip to? Thanks! Last edited by Captdonno; 06-26-2013 at 11:47 AM. |

For the door cards, the top pieces are plastic riveted into place and they have to be VERY carefully drilled out. Once you drill them out, you can use large pan head screws to tap into the remaining plastic standoff that you drilled out. The screws can only be 1/4' depth so you may have to use a washer(s) so to not go through the plastic panel and out the front Thickness of the Alcantara is 0.95mm Quote:
I use a regular single edge razor blade to cut all of the material and to trim to fit. You can ABSOLUTELY NOT use a heat gun on Alcantara. it will destroy, melt, and shrivel the fibers in the material. Steam only! Sorry to scare everyone, just would hate to see the results if it happened. Cheers! - Jason |

The control of the brush was really nice on areas the had little room for over spray. You can tape off areas if you use the spray BUT be cautious of time needed to remove the tape and apply your material. Take too long and it will dry up and not adhere correctly. The only other benefit is the quantity of glue you get from the gallon. To do what I did would take roughly 4-5 cans. |

I'd like to start simple by maybe working from the center console out with the silver trimmed pieces covered in dark blue alcantara to coincide with the color of my car The kicker is I just ordered a steamer from Amazon and it arrived broken...but I have a really nice heat gun! Oh well, I'll make sure I use your steam method then. Thanks for the feedback! |

Alright, guy. Youre getting under my skin with this one!
I've got a pile of parts sitting in my storage unit, a whole bunch of finishing touches to buy still, AND NOW THIS! Seriously. Its because people like you, with your mad skills and what not, that guys like me will NEVER be done with our cars. But really, this is wonderful. Kudos. |
