Hey friends. My wife was unfortunately rear-ended by a 17-year old on a provisional license in a '94 Toyota pickup on Friday in our new 2013 Impreza Sport. Not as bad as it could have been I guess but bad enough, and it makes me sick to my stomach that such a new car (just over 10,000 miles and only one oil change in) was smacked like it was. She was okay overall (neck sprain, muscle soreness - took a visit to the ER). Regardless, all processes are in motion to get estimates, etc. and get things resolved but I wanted to share some pics and get opinions on what to look out for as the estimate process continues. Obviously, I am demanding OEM replacement parts and am super concerned about making sure the rear differential and suspension is unaffected. It was a high hit, which is good where all of that is concerned. Anyway... here are some pics of the damage. Thoughts? Suggestions? I'm most concerned obviously about the safety of the car after being repaired, if that's the course we take.
As an aside, does anyone have any experience after getting rear-ended in a very new vehicle regarding the status of the original factory warranty? We're trying to evaluate if, in the event the car is not totaled, we are going to keep it or trade it based on the (very likely) diminished value.
