Will not (won't) start - 96 OBS
My 96 OBS will not start. When I turn the key I can hear the fuel pump run, then the starter works fine but still no start (no coughing or sputtering at all, just the sound of the starter attempting to do its thing). I have a CEL showing but can't check it. No apparent power problems, no recent repairs.
OK, walk me through the troubleshooting process in ascending order of repair price. ;^) Thanks!

fixed (my wife is awesome!)...
First my wife lets me drive her car (read "the good car") to work when mine won't start, then later she fixes mine. ;^)
I called her up at lunchtime and she pulled all the SBF fuses and reseated them. One had a dead spider fried to the plug, wierd and possibly the cause but who knows. After that it started right up. That's my girl! |

not fixed...
OK, so maybe she's not "all that" after all... No start today.
Plugs are decent and connections are good. I did notice, though, that it has rained significantly overnight before the starting problem. Any ideas? Thanks. |

update...
Replaced plugs, no change. Not that I expected there to be... its just been a while (plugs were dry).
Rented an OBD II tool and read the codes... P0325 - Knock Sensor P0335 - Crankshaft Position Sensor A I cleared the codes and tried starting again a couple of times and the P0335 code came back. Is there any possibility that this sensor could keep it from starting? I suppose it is possible, since the P03xx range of codes is related to ignition. Thanks for any help. |

yes. a bad crank and/or cam sensor will stop the car from firing up.
