Default Owners manual or service manual???

Hey guys,

I need to get a manual to learn how to look after my Scooby (& learn about cars in general).

So I need a manual but apparently there are owners manuals as well as service manuals. Which one do I need?

I have graduated past changing the oil & filter (dont laugh) and next I want to go for a change of spark plugs & maybe then the petrol filter.

Which manual do I need seeing as I am only slowly learning engine stuff??

Any advice is appreciated!!

you could grab a haynes manual from advance or somewhere like that if you are looking for maintainance tips. http://techinfo.subaru.com/html/index.jsp I haven't tried it but apparnatly you can get a reference for diagnostics there but its a bit more expensive. For basic car maintainance I would just grab a Haynes.

EDIT: I didn't realize you were in new zealand so im not sure where to get a haynes manual there

Thanks mate.....well if we are civilised enough to have Subarus then im sure we are civilised enough to have the manuals

But seriously we do have those Haynes manuals, I just wanted to check I wasnt going to get the wrong one.

By the way do you think its essential to get a manual for the right hand drive or would either be as good?

thats a good question. I would say if you can find the right hand drive edition pick that one up. Otherwise do a little search as to the differences between your car and a left hand drive car to see if they are major. Im sure simple things such as spark plugs and oil changes are pretty much the same though.
