OMGHi2U Moving from Cali to Vancouver.. new to the area!

Whats up everyone, my name is Paul, this weekend i am moving up to Vancouver and staying with my girl for awhile. Just thought i would introduce myself and my car (2000 2.5rs). I am pretty active down here in the Bay Area with my local subie crew, although we post more on i-club than here. I am probably gonna be up there indefinitely, and im interested in hearing what its like to drive up there, any funky rules (i know there are no u-turns?) if there are any meets or autox's in Vancouver, and where the funnest roads/twisties are in the area. I'm sure ill show up at a meet eventually.. hope to meet some of you. Heres some pics of my car.. holla if you see me

Welcome buddy.

I was born in LA, Cali but lived here all my life. Get an umbrella and a warm jacket thats for sure

www.vcmc.ca is a great website for Auto-X and such. Come to a meet and we'll tell you where to go for some...spirited fun

Theres a meet coming up..well, tomorrow (more like a bunch of car-geeks drinking and trash talking) and a Christmas meet/dinner this Saturday.

Living in Cali my whole life i'm not a huge fan of the rain or the cold.. i'll take +100 over -10 or baseball over hockey any day At least the car is suited for the weather Do you guys ever plan drives or anything like that? I can't wait to get up there and go exploring in the mountains and the roads.. ive been to BC before, most recently about 5 years ago and before that when i was younger, it really is a beautiful place

Well, we don't really do many cruises. About 3 years ago we did some INSANE unofficial cruises which were just...nuts. 3AM runs etc. But one time there was a small fender bender and since then, there hasn't been the demand. The cops here are "zero-tolerance" to street racing and since their strict enforcement, large cruises haven't really been assembled.

Meet a few people who do do it, and you'll be laughing and having a great time. Sea to sky is a nice drive

F***224;ilte! Hope you like it here. We're a fairly laid back group and there are a few GCs still around and some of them Auto-X too. (Looks for mynxi and Mirage.)

Haha.. yeah that kind of thing seems to happen on almost every drive. We had a drive out here once through the Berkeley hills that went a little crazy, apparently someone spotted a police helicopter, so we stopped. About 15 subies on the side of the road after the park had closed wasnt too smart.. next thing we knew there were police behind us, well i was in the front pretty much, i let 2 faster STi's go past then we booked our way outta there, the fastest i have ever driven on those roads. Good adrenaline rush

I like the more deserted roads.. where there is a guarantee no one will be out there, just gotta watch out for the animals.

Hi HO! Welcome -- I'm also a former Bay Area transplant. Vancouver is indeed the best place to live in the world.

You'll miss the Mexican food and little mountain roads like the ones in the Berkeley Hills, Highway 9, etc., so get your fill of them before you come up.

And get ready for sticker shock on parts and stuff compared to the US.

Other than that, though, good luck with the move! I'm in australia for a month and won't be checking the boards, so PM me if you want to ask anything...

hey, i'm from cali myself (SCIC). up here for school at the moment. things you need to remember: warm jackets are good to have, doobies are abundant, cops are more laid-back, things are more expensive, and drivers suck 10x worse. that is all for now.

Man.. i already know i am definitely going to miss the mexican food. I was actually about to go get my last giant burrito in about 10 minutes.. i have a plan tho, my friend might try to smuggle some frozen ones to me in the mail

You guys in BC do talk alot about your bud........ i'll have to try it to believe it. Its kind of hard to imagine anything better than the stuff we find out here in Cali, i guess i'll just have to do some thorough research.

Thanks for the offer to help Necro, if i do have any questions i will hit you up for sure. Have fun in Australia!
