Default Fender flare awesomeness

I made a thread about fitting VW mk2 fender flares to GD sedan fender before :

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2314044

I am still at the process of building the gd sedan, so I haven't gotten to the body work yet. But I bought an 02 impreza wagon as a winter beater.

Since I had extra set of these flares I wanted to try them on the wagon.

The fitment couldn't be better. They stay on the arches flush with only 3 screws.

If you are going with wide wheels you will have to cut your wheel arches (~ 1.5") and maybe pull the remaining (fender roller) to make room behind the flares for the tires.

These fender flares needed very little trimming. I will take pics of what needs to be trimmed when I do the other side.

I didn't get mines from this website but this could be a source to buy them :

Would these flares be the "thick" or "no" molding version?

You are my savior. I've been searching for some flares for my GD wagon FOREVER. I might not need to invest in fiberglass supplies this winter!

From my searching, WALD flares are no more. Those who are selling them want $$$. I've also seen the s13 flares, and from what I've seen they usually require some heavy massaging to get them to fit up. These look decent, no major working of the flare itself (it seems), and they're $45!!!

Link to thread where people are still talking about wagon flares.

Subscribed! I've been searching forever for rear flares for my 05 wagon. I got the walker is300 flares for the front and they fit almost perfect as far as just holding them up there goes. Looking forward to seeing this done

I will try to finish it this week.

Btw I did not order my flares from that website. Seems like there are 2 types to choose from; thick molding and no molding.

Since jimbosv650 is already volunteered to be the guinea pig, let's wait and see what he gets. I don't want to mislead people to buy wrong parts.

I am not even sure if theirs is plastic or fiberglass. Someone should call them and ask.

Pretty sure the ones I used are called mk2 small bumper fender flares :

This is what they look like without trimming :

I ordered the "no molding" ones- figured they'd fit flush to the body. Came out to about $63 with shipping. I'll update you guys as soon as I get them.

Flares just came in! Unfortunately I probably won't be able to mount them till Saturday. They're abs plastic and still have minimal rough edges from the molding process. They come individually wrapped and labeled and include a bag of mounting hardware. I tried to mock them up but the tape I had on hand wasn't strong enough to hold the stretch.

It seems as though the fronts will pretty much bolt right up, but the rears will in fact require a little bit of trimming.

Again these are the "small bumper" flares from Aptuning.

Oh and by the way I'm not blatantly thread jacking, the OP gave me permission to post on his thread.
