Post Me vs. Weapon*R intake round 2

If you're wondering what round 1 was, I detailed it here: http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/Foru...ML/000644.html

I have since purchased everything necessary to answer my questions from that post. However, I have a new one, and it goes a little something like this:

In addition to the 3 vacuum hoses that attach to the airbox, I came across another, larger diameter hose that runs to the stock intake tube that runs between the MAF and the airbox. I haven't seen this hose in any pictures of intakes and I'm thinking it may be a MY98 DOHC kind of thing. (I have a MY98 RS)

I have another outlet on my Weapon*R pipe that is the correct diameter. This outlet was covered with a rubber cap when I got the intake, but I'm assuming it's there because it is needed in some applications and not others (i.e. the intake is for MY98-99 but only the MY98's need the larger outlet?)

Anyway, I just wanted to be a little more sure about it before I finished putting the intake on. I also have to buy a new large hose to replace the stock one because it kinks when I hook it to the large outlet on the intake, so I also have a bit of time before I purchase that and am ready to install again, so I figured I would try and get more info.

Thanks in advance,

Eric

My understanding is that your car wont idle without connecting this to the vacuum as well. I have not looked at the other post, but found this out when we did our prototype MY98 intake last month.

You could get a 1/2" t connector, and "T" it into the other vacuum line closest to it like we did, or get an extention to reach the spare outlet in the intake.

Accident what you want to do it have the larger tube going to the large post at the middle of the intake and the other breather tubes will need to be T'd to the smaller post. I used the t pipe off my stock intake to make the connections after realizing I forgot to hook up a breather tube for the driver side.

Thanks for the responses!

I was all set to just hook up the stock large hose to the large outlet (I already have the T's to connect all the small ones to the small outlet) but the stock hose kinked pretty badly when I tried this, so I threw the stock intake back on until I could be sure.

Thanks again

Eric
