Default ARGH!!! Can't make up my mind.....

Which strut/spring combo should i get? here are my choices:

Strut- AGX, GR2

Spring- H&R (1.2f/1.0r)--
Eibach (1.2f/1.2r)----
Whiteline (3/4f/1.0r)-----if these are all right.

i want it to have that "even" drop look and at the same time not too low. Would love to get the V5, but too much for my blood.

I don't think the specs listed for the Eibach and H&R are that accurate. I'm sure my car dropped more than 1.2" with the Eibachs/v5... anyways, comparing my car with etam's (H&R/v5), the drop looks pretty much identical. If you're considering Whiteline's, be aware that they make two different types of springs... Control (25-40mm) and Flatout (40-50mm).

I was also concerned with the "even" look when I was buying springs because I saw pictures of Legacy's that looked saggy in the back. Maybe everybody could post pictures of their lowered Legacy's and their setups so we can see what the drops look like.

Here's mine with a lowered Forester:

Now i was thinking of getting the AGX/Whiteline combo, but read that my front would end up a bit higher than the rear if i go with the AGX. Or i could just stick with the GR2......

Would the Whiteline have the least drop out of the 3 and would still give me that "even" look? And is there any rubbing issues or bottoming out with the H&R set up?

werd. I had the AGX and they surely did raise the front end a little. A decent strut to be sure, but not for me as long as there is no legacy-specific option.

nice ride guys

wish i had more $$$ for the V5 struts . Guess i'll stick with the GR2/H&R combo.

So does the H&R have more than a 1.2/1.0 drop to it?

As Cajual said, I think H&R and Eibachs got around the same drop.

www.tirerack.com has those too. I ended up selling mine because I decided to keep my car all-original...

Are those prices for all 4 springs? Just wondering, b/c I was thinking of doing a few suspension mods and was getting an idea of prices.

Eh... my pic shows up as a red X at work, so I suppose nobody else can see it. (It shows up at the home computer.) Anyway, here's a link to one in case anybody wants a look. http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...heich/2485.jpg

My legacy had H&Rs on it, and I'm sure that it was lowered more than advertised by H&R! I was impressed with the quality though, so impressed, I bought H&Rs for my Nissan too!

I think nubaru2 has the Whiteline control springs on his Wagon and jacobhorn has the Whiteline Flatout.

I have GR2 struts on my Legacy, and Eibach springs (340 lb/ft front, 250 lb/ft rear). I wish the GR2's had a little more damping so I could run higher spring rates. I use Ground Control "coil-overs" (actually sleeve overs) to control the drop. Here is my car at almost the maximum drop. Ground Control can also set you up to go lower but I wanted to be able to raise my car OB - style for the winter.

Here's the sleeve-over

These Ground-Control "coilovers" are barely more expensive than just buying springs alone. If you'd like to control your drop and don't want to spend too much money, it's definately the most sensible way to go.

lucien, when you had the agx on there did you have lowering springs too? if so how much of a drop. i'm concerned because i have a set of agx from impreza that im going to put on my legacy and i have kg/mm 1.25" drop springs. i don't want that HUGE fender gap that you had on yours.

Yes, that's for all four....

I know nubaru2 has Whiteline/AGX's on his Wagon, but I don't think anyone has Whiteline's on their sedan(BD) with GR2 or AGX. Nubaru2's wagon did look pretty even to me.

I know where your coming from as I'm looking to do the upgrade too and I'm stuck on the GR2/Whiteline/STI topmounts or AGX/Whiteline/no STI topmounts....
what to do....

//M

Anyone have a good site for prices on V5's?

I have Whiteline Control springs on the way to me right now, and I'm ordering up GR2's this week...
I'm hoping to find some Sti top mounts on sale/special, cause they're damn pricey!

I'll take pictures once it's all on, but that probably won't happen for about a month, as I am slowly accumulating the parts.

I think I got my H&R's on sale from SPO Motorsports for $225. Then I just sat on them until someone had a sale on STi V5 struts. That was Troncalli Subaru in Georgia. Got them for $276 shipped. This was all back in the summer of 2001, so I'm not sure what the going rate is now.

90-98? Hmmm, that's kind of a weird range for fitment, isn't it? That surprises me that the springs are the same for first and second gen. Legacy's. And if it is, shouldn't they also list it for the 99's? Not meaning to question anyone, because I really don't know. I just would hate for anybody to pick up springs that won't fit.
