engine hesitates at high rpm
i noticed while passing someone on the freeway. i thought it was the fuel cut, but then i just tried it again. around 5500 rpm at full throttle it bogs in and out like crazy. ive asked around, some people said my turbos bad but idk. i am a new owner and new to subaru so any comments would be great.

Do you have a boost gauge? If so, post some readings.
People tend to have boost oscillations in the upper gears under high engine load. |

Find some empty highway and lay into it in 4th or 5th gear. See if it bogs in and out multiple times in either gear before redline.
If you're new to Subaru's these can be your best troubleshooting friend: http://www.tactrix.com/product_info.php?products_id=31 It's an OBDII-to-USB cable. Using open source software called Enginuity, you can log multiple sensors from your car in aid of troubleshooting. Very handy. Consider looking into it. |

Probably boost oscillations then. They tend to get worse when the weather gets colder. Before you make any adjustments I'd recommend you hook up your boost gauge or a laptop to monitor your manifold pressure just be certain and post your results.

You mean where to splice into the vaccum line? Mine is spliced in near the bypass valve nipple with a 'T' fitting. Runs through the firewall up to the steering column where my gauge is mounted.

I had this same problem, which got progressively worse. After spending 2 weeks going over the entire vacuum and turbo system, it turned out to be a combo of dying fuel pump and dirty in tank filter (the sock on the pump). Hope this helps. -Jason
