I went from H9 white bulbs from headlightbulbs .com to Philips H9 German made. The Philips one are much better. The light cutoff is sharper n output is much better.

As I was about to place my order I saw your post. Honestly, how much better is output w/the H9 German Philips as compared to the Platinum Bulb from HLB.com if you were to rate it?

I just upgraded my H11 to H9 on my '12 Impreza, what a difference! Will definitely come in handy this winter driving home at night

I can see further which was a plus. I really wanted to stay with the white bulbs because of the looks on the car but visibility wins.

So is there any replacement high beam bulbs other than the HIR? I put some sylvania H9s in the lows, and now my highs are lacking

The only option I can think of is to just upgrade your existing 9005 bulbs in your highs to some Narva or phillips offerings. I'm doing HIR1 in my highs today but also doing the fog light DRL mod also. Not sure how long the HIR1's will last being that they will always be on as DRL's without the mod.

HIR's don't like to be the DRL so just disable that function and you'll be good to go.

That way it would show the temps before and after the test.

Thanks for the info, and the temps. It made the upgrade easy, and worry free !!!

Just ordered the PIAA extreme white H9's from Amazon. Kinda Pricey, but if they last a year, I'll be happy. I'm sure they will blow the stockers away. I wonder how much better they are than the MUCH cheaper Phillips.

Will post back once installed with review/results...

I've cross-referenced the H9 mod on other car forums and the life span average seems to be 18-24 months. YMMV of course.

i'm still to early with mine to even worry about having back ups ready.

Chester.

How do you like the PIAA's? They are way more expensive than the Phillips. Do you have any other H9 exeprience to which you can compare the PIAA's to. Are they "worth it"?

Probably, look in your owners manual.

The wifies 2012 Impreza Sport uses H11's from the factory, so I'll be upgrading her Scoobie to H9's as well.

I did this mod and i wanted to take a look at my bulbs so i pulled out the bulb and i had a connector piece stuck in the bulb end, Green piece that is now in the bulb housing when it was in the connector housing before, I just shoved it back into the socket and it works right but when this bulb dies I am unsure what to do after that, Do they sell more of these connecting pieces? Will take pics if needed

Kind of like this, where the blue part is, Its stuck in my BULB housing, So if i replace bulbs i will be missing this part in the wiring connecter
