2 problems. ecu not recognized by inspection machine, CEL won't go away
Okay, so first, i have a 2003 Subaru WRX with an opensource tune. my ecu info brings up that the tune file is from a 2002, not sure if this makes a difference.
1st Issue: For the past two years i've had several problems with connecting to my ecu, i've tried several different computers, different tactrix cables, all that. it rarely seems to work for me, but i've gotten it to work in a few instances, but i could never figure out how. a friend was trying to put the car through the inspection process but he couldn't get the nys inspection machine to recognize that it was connected to my ecu. any ideas? 2nd Issue: My charcoal canister mounts broke a few years ago causing the canister to hit the floor and drag, so i decided to remove it all and and delete the evap system codes through romraider, i did so, but the CEL would never go away. no matter how many times i went back to make sure that all the codes that were popping up were disabled, my CEL would always stay on. any help is appreciated.

1. Either there is a bent pin in the OBDII port or a pin has gotten pushed back out of the connector. It happens.
2. Romraider cannot delete codes from the DTC section on the 16 bit ECU. Disabling from here just stops the CEL from coming on with the DTC. The DTC is still active though. You physically have to go into the hex file and change values. The DTC "fixes" in the OBDII section are just that. |

ALSO, I know that the OBDII port is definitely getting power because when I plug in my Tactrix cable, everything lights up just fine. and I tried to disable this evap system CEL the same way that I did with my rear o2 sensor code, but this one just wouldn't go away, my tuner took a crack at it too and he couldn't get it to work either. so you're saying that to disable this CEL is different then what the o2 sensor was? i'm aware that the DTC's still show up but I've disabled all the DTC's that LearningView is showing me. I'm just trying to get the CEL to disappear so I can finally have a legal inspection. |

Sometimes you will see dtc values on the older ecus but they won't show up on a real reader. Give it a read at the local autozone and see what it says. Bugeyes are notorious for that
