Default Has anyone installed MRT brake bracket? and cheap brake pads

Has anyone installed MRT brake bracket?
I got it as a gift, and I'm looking to install it, but I want to know if any part of the install is going bite me in the ass...
Also, since my front pads are getting low, and I'm looking for a cheap set of front pads. Before you jump on me for the pads, the rational is it thus...
I plan on going with the WRX brake upgrade (new rotors/ brackets) in the spring, and my current rotors have 58k on them. Rather than buying good pads now, and using them w/ old rotors, then putting them on the new rotors in the spring, I figured I'd buy some cheap generic pads for the old rotors, and when I get the new wrx rotors in the spring, I'd buy some new _good_ pads to match. Any recomendations for cheap generic pads, and who would have them instock?
Thanks
AO

OK, kidding with that last one. Are '00 RS brakes the same as the '02 WRX ones, or do they take the same size pad? If so, you can have my old ones- there should be enough life left in ';em to last you the winter.

I don't have the MRT brackets, but from what I read and understand, you'll only feel benefits with very hard braking - i.e. road-racing type situation.

As for cheap brake pads, I somehow like the Subaru OEM ones. They are not that expensive from Exeter, and they seem to create moderate dust, no noise, and long wear, with good bite in cold condition. I don't know what else would one want from relatively inexpensive pads.

What is the "WRX brake upgrade"? A set of WRX calipers, or the 4-pots? I would be pulling the pads out of my spare set of wrx calipers, if you don't wait to wait till the summer. I could be talked into giving them up- I'm just keepin them in case I ave to return the car back to stock for some reason.

Thursday sounds good to me. CHili's again?

edit: forget it- you would need the rotors as well wouldn't you.

you can have my warped ones.

Default MRT Master Cylinder Bracket

I have had the bracket installed for 6 mo and I wouldent want to drive my car without it.(I do Auto x and track days) When you press the brake pedal the Subie firewall flexes a lot. This gives the car a pedal feel equivelant to grandmas Caddy. When you want positive pedal feel the bracket is the way to go. Alpine, adjust the bracket bolt out more. I found .for my driving style that after making contact with the master cylinder I needed another 5 turns. I got mine from Vivid Racing.

The WRX caliper is the same as the old school RS- front and rear (the rear brakes are 100% identical to the 99-01 in fact ). The WRX has a larger front rotor and a caliper bracket similarly sized to accomodate the larger rotor. The WRX upgrade is a set of WRX stock rotors and a set of the larger caliper brackets.

like brian said the 'upgrade' really only consists of a different caliper bracket, and larger rotor. The reason I'm not doing the whole thing yet, is the larger rotors don't fit under my 15 inch winter wheels, and I've yet to source a reasonably priced set of wheels and snows that'll clear the 'upgraded' brakes. I was psyched to find out that the RS pads are the same as the wrx. My initial thought was to buy pads now, and get rotors and the bracket later. Though. I think it makes better sense to bed 'good' pads to fresh rotors than to my current 58k rotors (which aren't warped).
Jams - chillis sounds good. I gotta make sure I rember, it's a whole week away. As for the calipers I would be interested in the caliper bracket, but I'm not sure if that's a part you have, or if it's a part that's reused for the 4 pots, and it also seems you are quite fond of your stock brakes including warped rotors .
Thanks for the insight guys...
Back to that brake bracket, was it easy to install?

The brake bracket, as has been discussed before, really only provides increased feel under hard braking. If you have someone stomp the pedal & watch the flex before & after, the difference is quite noticeable.

Since the bracket was really designed for the GC Impreza, I've heard the installation is pretty straightforward. On the WRX, it doesn't fit quite right - making installation a little more tricky.
