Default DEFI BF oil temp ??

Ok I did a search and found mountains of info on gauges and how to install particular ones....

I have ALL the wiring hooked up already....

however I need to know what part I need that the oil temp sensor plugs/fits into for these exact gauges?? (DEFI BF series)

also WHERE to get this part...

I believe its like a sandwich plate that fits between the block and oil filter?? If this is correct could someone confirm and tell me WHERE to pick one up??

thanks in advance,
~M

If you can pm this guy named Fredie at South Coast Subaru. He's a vendor. I forgot his screen name. If you pm South Coast Subaru the message will probably get to him. He help me with my gauges.

I bought the Defi D-series gauges, and bought a Defi Sandwich adapter (fits just like you said, between block and oil filter). I bought mine from Godspeed Motorsports. Dan is a great guy and his business is great. He has the Defi and Greddy unit.

And I found that the gauge sending unit did not screw into the sandwich adapter. Great. Well, it came with an adapter, and that didn't work either. Double great.

So, I went to McMaster-Carr.com and ordered 2 each of a bunch of adapaters that might work. I had heard that Defi units sometimes are BSPT, or BSPP, or something different from what I had.

And I came up big time. Two of the ordered adapters (1/8" FNPT ----> 1/8" MBSPT adapter in 316 SS) worked perfectly. The sending units screwed perfectly into the adapters, and the adapters fit perfectly into the sandwich unit. Added some teflon tape, torqued 'em in, and I was good to go on my next oil change.

Only thing I had to do for the temp sender was drill out the adapter a bit, as it did not have a large enough ID to fit the sender. Nothing the Dewalt drill and bit couldn't help.

The McMaster-Carr part # is the following; 4092 K11
They're $5.68 each, kinda pricey, but I haven't been able to find BSPT around me at all.

Hope this helps.

im a little late on this one .. i just got the defi sandwich adapter and the defi sender for oil temp and oil pressure screwed into it with no problems .. i got mine from http://www.spipowerexcel.com/main.htm

install was very easy. only drawback (not a big deal) is the oil filter is now about 1/2" lower than before ..

Does the BF and V2 Defi series for the oil pressure both require the same part?

I'm guessing they do, but I want to make sure.

Because I have the Defi V2 series and I'm also wondering about the plug for my Oil Pressure gauge.

look on www.defi-shop.com there may be some differences in the SI unit (international) gauges vs Imperial (usa) - the BFs are SI units.
