You'd be kicking yourself if something like this happened because you didn't check it out. Worse case you find a problem with the pickup and replace it. Best case you find nothing, know there's nothing wrong, and don't loose any sleep over it.

no one wants this...
So if I go to get an oil change tomorrow. Ill ask the guy to check the oil pan? For what? And what would be wrong with it?
What is a pickup ?

I have to drive about 5 miles to work in the morning

Read. It will save you thousands in repairs.

You need to NOT DRIVE THE CAR and DROP (take off) the oil pan and look at the pickup for damage.

lvlatthew, I've been a Honda dealer mechanic, now UPS diesel journeyman mechanic probably longer than you've been alive. It's a gamble if you decide to drive it. I've seen plenty of idiots over the years who've said screw it, I'm driving it anyways. Like the idiot who blew a heater hose on his Accord. He admitted driving the car several miles after the warning light came on because he wanted to get off the freeway. That was a $3500 mistake. Or the UPS semi driver who blew a turbo on a semi. It drained the oil pan of it's oil, spewing it out the exhaust and coating the trailer. $14k's damage.

Several people who know things about cars (Me, KillerB, and others) have told you not to drive it. Sure, the light went out, but that doesn't mean much of anything. I don't know how you THINK it's ok to drive based on your lack of technical knowledge. (Do not take that as an insult, it's not) We are trying to help you not have a broke ass motor, simple. Tow it, do not drive it.

Okay, another person chiming in to tell you the same thing.

DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR.
You could have a small crack in your oil pickup tube that is being masked by the fact you now have too much oil in your engine. Should that crack turn into a snapped tube, it's game over.

If you do not posess the mechanical ability, tools, or confidence to remove your oil pan, then have the car TOWED to a garage you trust to have them do it. At that point, you may as well replace the pickup just for peace of mind. If the light still is on after that, have an oil pressure check done with a gauge.

If you ignore the good advice you have received here, please do not come back on starting a thread like "my engine blew, what should I do now?"

Do not use Mobile 1 5w30. Mobil 1 5w30 sheers down to nearly a 5w20 in an EJ-series motor. Bad juju.

You can use Mobile 1 HM 0w40 (European grade) or Rotella T6 5w40. Rotella is slightly cheaper, so choose that.

Climb under car, drain oil. Look up at the giant black piece of metal that the oil is coming out of, now look where it connects to the block. You'll see (don't remember exact number) 14 bolts, they ironically even have a Phillips drive built into the head. Take those off, beat the pan back an forth gently with a mallet to break the fujibond. Inspect oil pickup.

PS there is a how to on the internet, or 5.

Can you link me to the how to. I guess I'll try and do this myself. I just really have a flat area to do this. But. I guess I'll have to do something myself on my car

So I told my dad I wanted to drop the oil pan a s check out the pickup and he started like freaking out saying. You don't just "drop" the oil pan and that it's a process and I don't have the knowledge to do that ****. So he thinks if I just took out oil untill it reads full and then I'm gonna just drive it to the shop I know to look at it. (That's what he wants me todo)

Your engine

Since we're speaking about it, you'll be needing a new one if you drive it. Seriously listen to everyone's advice about either towing it or dropping it yourself unless you want to rip your wallet a new one

Who the hell said I've ignored What you guys are saying I haven't done anything to the car yet I'm just stating what my dad has been telling me. My dad doesn't think I'm capable of dropping the oil pan thinks it is a lot bigger process. She says a in gonna need new gaskets and I'm going to need to torque wrench it off and such. I want to do it but I know I probably shouldn't because ill probably screw it up more...

If you don't feel comfortable doing it, get it towed to a shop. I seriously don't get why you're still on here asking for advice when it's been clearly given to you.

you just need to make sure they use a flat bed and not a dolly, when you call them make sure you tell them it's all wheel drive

0% chance the tow company is going to mess up your car if they use a flat bed

and fwiw, there are no gaskets involved, just an O-ring for the pickup and red sealant goo stuff for the pan (fujibond), both of which are available at your dealership

a torque wrench will do you no good, because all of the torques are around 5ft-lbs

Also, with the money you spend for somebody to fix it, you could buy the tools needed to do it yourself
