Default HELP problem w/tires going flat while parked on incline

attn: mods - sorry if this is in the wrong place, fix it if you see fit...

i'm driving a factory 2.0L 2002 WRX and my apt. parking is on what i would describe as a horizontal incline...meaning that every time i park, the car is tilted so that the right tires rest about 4-6" lower than the left tires...sideways on a hill, got it? (on pavement fyi)

so here's my problem: my right-rear tire has gone almost completely flat several times in the last 1-2 months...could this problem be related to my parking situation at all? i don't have access to off-street parking that's level so i'm forced to park in what is essentially a lawn that's been paved over...i'm about to purchase what will be the 2nd full set of tires for this car since i bought it last year and i'm pissed. HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM WHILE PARKING ON AN INCLINE?

i really don't want to shell out $$$ for a new set of tires if theyr'e just gonna get fux0r3d again after a couple months of one-on-one time with my lawn-cum-driveway...

any help is GREATLY APPRECIATED

I do not think that the tilt, sway or pitch or whatever we can call it makes a difference. How does this tire go flat? Road debris? Maybe valve is bad?
Maybe it is improperly mounted? I had new tires mounted and they were improperly seated and beads were leaking.
I am not using this store anymore.

EDIT: i dunno if the temp. has anything to do with it, but it's been below 30 for most of the winter up here...

could be the valve i guess. so far, the ritual is that i go to start the car in the AM before work and the back-right tire is almost down to the rim, but always still with some air in it, and this seems to only happen every 2-3 weeks or so, over the last ~3 months.

in the interest of full disclosure, i'm really hoping the tilt has nothing to do with it since i have nowhere else to park near my apt. this is driving me crazy though...there doesn't seem to be any discernible pattern as to when the tire goes flat.

If tire itself is fine (no puncture) it must be mounting.
You can rotate tires and see if problem follows tire.

Is anybody playing tricks on you and lets air out?

i'm having a new set installed this afternoon + i'm gonna have the boys check out that tire to see what kind of damage it has sustained.

once i have new tires on, it'll be pretty clear whether someone is messing with my tires or not. if i keep losing air, it must be some cool person having fun at my expense.

is it the general consensus that parking on an incline (every day for 2 years now) cannot possibly lead to tire damage of any kind? that's assuming the tires aren't already defective somehow...

I would think that if this were related to the incline, that BOTH tires on that side would be low on air. If this is just the rear tire, it makes even less sense as there is more weight up front.

I've had phantom air leaks as well, I picked up a nail in an old car and even though a shop patched it, it still leaked air. Until I put a bottle of runflat sealant into the tire

that's exactly the frustrating thing...if both right tires went down i wouldn't be this confused. i've had several people tell me, while walking by the car, that the front-right tire looks low, but it's never gone below 30psi...gonna take a pic of what the tires looked like with the car leaning + see what you guys think.

pics will be up later this evening

just got a tip from somebody on clubwrx that it might be a problem with the bead:

garrisonREX sez...

"I know exactly what ur problem is. See the bead on the tire is probably coming off because the tire is bent or pulled on the low side of the car. Is the tire goin flat one of the ones on the lower side of the car? If it is then thats ur problem.I kept havin the same problems with a set of snow tires i have, since the sidewall is taller it was easier to de-bead them, especialy when i was doing doughnuts in the snow, and would hit a small dry spot, and what it does is bend the tire back(or forth) so that it comes unattached from the rim loosing air, and if u have a low tire, this is bound to happen as well. Take your tire to any tire shop and have them look at it(usually they'll do it for free), and when they find out theres nothing in it, they'll more than likely put bead sealer on it, if not, just have them do it to the tire anyway. What your saying sounds like whats happened to me many times, so thats my guess"

It's possible you have some bead area corrosion on your wheel. Make sure the shop checks for leaks prior to dismounting the tire. Hope that is not your problem as this corrosion can be difficult to stop.

Im putting my money on a wheel weight. If you have a large MAG style wheel balance weights and park on a incline it could do this. There could allso may be something between the wheel bead and tire bead.Brad
