You will be much more interested in the "US MY2015 WRX/STI News" thread - when it finally gets created.

With the "14 will be the last 4 door STI/WRX" explosion going on '14 is my year interest. From what I've read the BRZ will be the new WRX/STI platform. I'm getting itchy for a '13 STI, but don't want to jump the gun and miss out on something. In CO deals on WRX/STIs aren't found so I have plenty of time to wait.

I can probably just edit this threads name, if anyone wants it to be that way.

You know, maybe they'll just show off a turbo BRZ? But I really think we've witnessing a real evolution in the new WRX.... I forsee the car becoming a 3 door and 5 door hatch and no more sedan.

I wouldn't count on the turbo BRZ; but I do agree with your second point. I think that Subaru really believes that this is something ground breaking that they'll be releasing (something just a bit outside they're realm of safe designing). I just believe that we may not see it that way once its presented. So hmm, ground breaking concept huh??? Lets see, what could Subaru possibly have cooking for the new WRX....maybe a 6 speed gearbox

There damn well better be a 6-speed in the WRX. And I am totally in favor of 3 and 5 door bodies only. But Americas love of 4 less practical doors will assure that the sedan persists.

The Viziv concept already got unveiled at Geneva. I hope they don't think the US missed that news and it'll be "new" for us.

I doubt it. That's a concept that isn't supposed to amount to actual vehicle, but rather show design elements and ideas going forward. Most indications are we are about a year from the new WRX being on lots. Now would be the time f they're going to release a concept

Nope, "future-generation crossover concept" =/= "performance concept car"

I am not so aure the BRZ's/FRS's current transmission is up to the task of turbo power.

I think the WRX will get a 6 speed as well. I just wish 6th in my STi was a true overdrive gear that really lowered RPMs and increases fuel economy. I remember my 06 TR in 5th on the highway, it was working too hard at 75-80 mph for sure.

Bad idea. This thread, so far, has zero news about the US MY2015 WRX/STI.

Or 2014, aside from the virtual confirmation that it will be the GR/GV again, unchanged.

Perhaps "next generation" rather than a year is appropriate?

An overdrive gear is any gear that provides an output shaft speed that's faster than the input shaft speed... like the 6th gear in an STI.

The STI gets crappy mileage because it's got dirty areo, fat tires, a power sucking heavy mechanical drivetrain and low compression.

If you insist... I hated my STI. It was a pointless, expensive, gas hog that just made me roadrage everywhere.
