Default STi Front Diff-filled fluid, diff slipping?

I checked my front diff fluid level, it was below the low line.
So I added just under a quart of 90-weight, as per the manual.

Now the car doesn't seem to pull as hard out of corners.
For example, when I gun it out of my complex parking lot (left turn onto a 4-lane street) the car normally wants throw me out of the seat.
Now it feels softer. It almost feels like the clutch is slipping, but it's not.

Is the center diff fluid supposed to be low? Or did I just overfill it?

API GL-5 80w90. That's what the owner's manual said to put in it.
I'm assuming the previous owner had regular gear oil in it. Maybe I should give him a call and make sure.

Not sure what brand. It's at work, I'll look at it tomorrow.

It's non-synthetic API GL-5 80w90 hypoid limited slip gear oil.
The manual didn't mention any additive, and I figured since the front diff had a dipstick, it's probably sealed off from the rest of the trans fluid.

You can't chnge the center diff fluid. The tranny fluid sound good to me. You are just crazy, I doubt adding a little gear lube will slow down car.

What type of front diffs do the 04 STi have? Viscous? If thats the case, you don't need the limited slip additives.,

I meant front diff.
Maybe it's just my imagination.

No, it's a suretrac diff...gearless mechanical limited slip. But the book didn't mention any additive.

The front diff and trans share the same oil. I believe the recommended weight is 75w90 GL-5 for all temp conditions
