Default Mods - do they get paid for being a moderator?

Just out of curiosity, I wonder how moderators get compensated for hours of work they put into monitoring every single threads here. Also, how do you become a moderator?

Sexual favors.

That asnwers both questions of how do they get paid and how they became moderators

My understanding is that they do not get paid. Instead they do this for their love of scoobies and helping others. as for how you become a mod - I have absolutely no idea.

Mods put up with a lot of crap. They're not paid, but they find satisfaction in a jorb well done...

Ok, well maybe not total satisfaction... but I'm sure if they didn't want to mod, they wouldn't.

Hooray for mods!

I think they're making 5 or 6 figures salary. Why else would they stay on here 24/7? hehehhehehe

I can name a certain someone who tried charging me $5 to change my name. I was going to do it cause I thought it was going to nasioc. Turned out it was their personal paypal. I couldnt see myself paying someone $5 to change my name. $5 is a lot of money to me sometimes when times get tough. Being I am a broke college student, $5 will feed me for a couple days at the grocery store.

Moderators: the gypsies of the forum highway. Their minds are here then there - nowhere. Knowledge, sound advice, shear experience, intuition, and raw gut feeling fused together and stamped into each keystroke.

Their knowledge is boundless. I fear them. Dare that we should truly know them...Thread carefully.

thats because its not their job or your right to change your name. the mod that does it can choose to get paid or not. many many people have paid it.

omg dude. i hate reading this stuff. Its 2006, if you think $5 is a lot of money you have serious issues in life both personal and financial.

$5 is gonna feed you for several days (3) at 3 meals a day? thats like $.55 a meal. hardly dude.

See all those ads at the top and bottom of the page and all the fancy "NASIOC Vendor" tags on vendors? Those bring in a LOT of money and we all get some

OMG no! don't leak the name! This treachery will not stand! FYI: It is standard practice for supermods to charge $5 for a namechange.
