Default Loud Exhaust Tickets

Has anyone in Maryland, the Virginias, Pennsylvaina, or the Carolinas been ticketed for a loud exhaust on a stock WRX with a Prodive axle back system?

Most likely a dumb question for a Prodrive, but you just never know.

I have a stg 3 TXS magnaflow exhaust and I left the car idle while an officer of the law walked up and talked to me about how fast I pulled away from him going up South Mountain. I pulled too fast for him to clock, and stopped too quick too.

He wrote me a warning for unreasonable speed and wrote the car down as a 2-door Subaru. Talk about stealth.

Obviously, no problem with the mufler at idle.

When passing a cop drive with quietude in mind.

When I got a speeding ticket a few months ago, I left the car idling while the cop did his thing. He made no mention of the exhaust, and I'm sure he would have dinged me if it was an issue.

Honestly, the Prodrive is not really loud enough to be a problem. It is a tiny bit louder than stock, but the real difference is the quality of the sound, not the volume.

I've gotten no po-po attention with my Prodrive. It is barely louder than stock. I plan to use the old "Prodrive is "Mopar for Subaru" excuse" if that should ever occur though. You might get some attention if you are screaming around though. I find it is quite a bit louder than OEM above 4k rpms though. I drive granny style when cops are within earshot.

No problems w/ mine, both when my exhaust was otherwise stock, and after the TXS stealthback. Just don't drive dumb around cops and you should be fine.

No worries down here, there are hondas that are much louder than the loudest wrx( even with straight pipes), and lots of them.

Cops in the metro areas/major cities don't nail you for just exhaust noise...they just tend to add it when they already have u pulled for something else. But if you shut ur car off once u get pulled over, then don't worry about it. Cops out in rural areas are more likely to nail you with exhaust noise fines.

One thing to note is to keep ur car quiet in "No Engine Brake Usage" areas. Even though the sign is directed towards big trucks with their engine brakes, the sign is there b/c the community doesn't want to hear the traffic coming thru the area.

I'm in PA, I have a cat-back straight pipe and i've been lucky so far. Even when cops are behind me, i'm surprised they dont see the lack of muffler.

Default exhaust

i got hit up by the po-pos in fredericksburg for the TXS RFL exhaust. he didn't write me up though, just wanted to see if i was drinking, had any drugs or guns. I think the V8 wing caught his attention though. later.
