Plasti-dipped my hood scoop. Been unsure about it, but I like the way it came out.

Alright, I'm a noob no doubt but help a girl out. After much googling and you tubing and reading through these pages as well as on the dipyourcar forums my head is spinning, but I still don't know if for my interior pieces I should remove them or just tape off and mask? I already did that big long awful silver strip on the passenger side that clashes with the tan roof horribly, but my tape peeled up a corner and of course it wants to peel the whole thing off... Maybe I waited to long to remove the tape??

I'm at a loss but before I redo that piece and try others I could use you plasti dippers input!

So my questions are, do I remove the pieces? If so, how? (Silver strip above glovebox, silver piece around shifter, etc, anything silver really)

If I can just tape and mask off, how long to wait between coats and then when should I remove the tape on the last coat?

Would love to post some pictures of before and after if I could just get it done right!

I would not attempt plastidipping interior parts while they are still in the car.

Don't spray in the car,

a) the spray will go everywhere and i mean everywhere
b) the smell will stay in the car for ages
c) the interior bits are very easy to remove and you will get a much better coverage off the car.

Okay, anyone have any ideas on how to pry off that silver strip on my passenger side? There is a smaller section of it to the left of my steering wheel too. It could be different colors on different interiors..

IMO the smell wasn't bad, and I barely noticed it after letting my car sit overnight with the windows cracked.

Thanks for your response. I would prefer to remove the pieces I just don't know how, and haven't been able to find it.

Thats because youre overthinking it. lol

They just pry/pop off. Get one of those trim panel tool kits or use a flat head screw driver. I just did mine last week. Start at one end and work your way across.

Does anyone know if the silver trim on the steering wheel of the impreza sport pops off? Or is there screws behind it.

I did my rota g force beaters in anthracite grey. Its an awesome color! I might even dip my gold summer wheels this color too. This was done about 2 months ago. Its holding up very well. I use simple green to keep them clean.

i've read this thread off and on, so i won't pretend to know every detail,...but i wanted to share my experiences on a piece i'm working

i'm refinishing a fiberglass amp rack...it's mostly smooth gelcoat, but there are some spots of bondo from repairs i did

i sprayed it metallic silver plasti dip and the metallic is more difficult to get even...the metallics in the paint tend to pool a bit so you need to be very even and extend all the way past the sides of the price, do not stop in the middle, it will be uneven and not attractive

second, i had to spray heavy to cover the sanding scratches and bondo difference...yeah, that was a mistake, so i peeled it off and started over. Goo Gone easily removes thin dip and over spray, but it liquifies it...basically turning it back into liquid paint and its messy, but it comes off clean with a towel and then a wide down of alcohol

i'm going to start over, this time i'm going to prime the piece first so it is uniform...i'm using a filler primer so it covers the sanding scratches and bondo...i'm not going to sand the primer when done, in case i need to remove the plasti dip again

i'll post pics later

If you want a good plasti dip job, have someome who knows what they are doing. As easy as it looks, good quality can be difficult.
Emerald coast check out Dipped by Grizzly. He does good work on subarus.

Looks good you should put some clear coat over it so the brake dust doesnt get absorbed into the pink and it will make it easier to clean. I blaze pinked my girl's jeep wheels and it looked very dirty after a few months.

Simply because it's a fad imo. It will not last and it's a cheap way to do something that should be done right. Don't get me wrong I think not has its place but its not a place on any of my cars.

Hey new to plasti dipping here! And my rims need to be redone. My EDM/EK 17s were powdercoated black long ago. I really want to redo them myself. I want to do a Black with a Red Trim. And has anyone ever put a gloss/clearcoat on them as the last coats, does it make it Last longer? How many cans of Black, Red and Glossifier would you recommend me to buy for this project? I dont want to overbuy and I definitely dont want to underbuy and not have enough. Thanks
