Angry almost killed by some idiot driving a mustang

So its about 1:45pm and I leave my house to head to my 2pm philosophy class. About 2 mins from campus I get a red light at a slightly major intersection, stop and wait. This happens to be a 4 way intersection with 2 lanes going in my direction and 4 (2 left turn) lanes for the oncoming traffic. So the light turns green, I start to go and all of a sudden this blue mustang with a crappy body kit and altezzas (trying to beat the red light) comes flying out of the oncoming lanes turning left cutting us off (me & the old guy in the lane next to me) almost killing both of us! Both of us had to slam on our brakes and we barely missed being annihilated by this dick head with a riced out mustang! Traffic was backed up behind us due to the fact that there was so many people heading towards campus, so we were also lucky we didn't get rear-ended. The old guy in the lane next to me gave the kid in the mustang the look of death as he drove away. I just wished that the cops that usually watch that intersection for speeders heading to campus were there and nailed his arse for wreckless driving. Idiot.

Almost doesn't count.

My almost story:
I was driving on a 45mph 3 lane road (3 in each direction), I'm in the right lane. And we are going on about 40-45mph about a block and a half after a stop light so the cars in front are about lined up. Anyway this lady pulls out in her Jeep Libery in front of oncoming traffic to make a left turn about 50 feet in front of us and stops since she can't make the turn due to traffic the other direction. A Ford Exploder slams into her who is in the middle lane, the guy in left lane in a white something or another swerves into the median, and I pull one of the hardest e-brake slide I've ever done and pull into the parking lot she just got out of. When I gave the Police a statment he asked me if this thick lines of rubber were from me and I of course say yes and his reply is "Nice!".

Well at least this thread is called "almost killed..." instead of "got hit by some idiot driving a Mustang", you're ok and that's all that matters. Although that kind of blatant wrecklessness really pisses me off too, and all for what? So some selfish jerk can save an extra 30 seconds of his precious time by not waiting at a light? I'm not even going to get started, as my frustrations with the same thing would take up far too much space Glad you're alright man, hopefully they're be a cop there next time that guy tries something retarded like that

I consider myself a safe driver, but it's idiots like the ones you describe that I worry about. I can control my driving, but I can't control if some asshat decides to T-bone my car as he's trying to beat the red light through an intersection.

Grr.

What would be crazy is if it was called, "Got killed by an idiot in a Mustang... posting from my PDA in the clouds!"

I know someone who has been ticketed for running a red light... (under 20) I asked why he did it, said the lights were on red, there was no traffic early in the morning and he decided to go because he was late for work. Fortunately the cops got him. He wonders why his insurance is sky high and drives a battered up MR2 Turbo. Ironic his mother saw nothing wrong with it and blamed it on him being young.

dude, i cannot agree more with all of you! i drive a delivery truck for a living and you wouldnt believe some of the stories i could tell. my suby is my baby and it makes me mad that there are people out there that dont give a crap and would take my car away from me by hitting it. ive put alot of, not just money, but my time and effort into my car and im proud of it. i dont think people should get thier licenses until they can prove they can actually operate a motor vehicle.(aka driving school, not this BS drivers traning crap they put kids through now) this is kinda a soapbox here but i think everyone should take a yearly driving test and be rated by a series of stars on the back of the car, that way you can tell who to stay the heck away from. just a suggestion.

OT no mention of Subaru once.

What kind of Philosophy do you study?

I've been studying/reading Philosophy of Mind, AI, Neural philosophy and Intentionality for years now. I'm a firm materialist with great appreciation for Dennett, Ryle and to some extent Dualism but not the Cartisian kind. Recently Charlie Martin and his Cue Manifestation have been in my consideration, but that is mostly because I'd been studying under him a few years ago. I think that after 5 years I have finally gotten to the point of understanding what he is trying to say. Now I just need to take that into consideration with everything else.

you couldn't keep going straight and pass her on the right? i bet you could, but the e-brake slide makes it a much cooler story.

She was probably stopped across the right lane due to all the stacked up cars in front of her.

This is actually my first semester so I'm just taking general philosophy for now(learning Presocratics, Kant, Nieche, Lao Tzu etc.). I'm a philosophy major though so I'll be taking all kinds in the near future.

I used to drive a Mustang, 5.0L. Lots of power there. I've seen lots of people lose control of that power too. RWD and slippery roads and I've had a few scarry moments.

But if controlled right it can be alot of fun. I had that car in Oxford while going to College and bombing around the round-abouts (traffic circles) is great fun. Hold the edge and the Stang is just at the edge of losing adhesion and you just hold it all the way around.

If you don't know how to drive though or just drive badly then it is a different story. I suppose it wouldn't matter what you're driving. Bad drivers are just bad. But i've seen lots of bad Mustang drivers raw power and no clue, well that is a bad mix.

The Key for success when studying is not to take notes, the key to success is to listen in class. Sit near the front if at all possible first 3 rows. Then Write down only key words. Just jot down a word or name and look it up later. Find a quiet place, library or study area and read your philosophy. Don't bother trying to read every word in the books, it is just too hard to do. Get the points down and what is being said about it. Many if not all Philosophers suffer from verbal diarrhea, and we invent words whenever we want to describe something that is hard to describe.

Also make sure you take a practical minor as philosophers don't get paid much.

My accountants daughter in law and grandchild were killed by a 16 year old girl running a red light at 55mph a few days ago. WHY DO PEOPLE DO THIS? Stay safe out there y'all, just because you've got a green doesn't mean you're safe.

I Pakistan everyone runs red lights. They say the safest way to drive through an intersection is to go through on a red light because then you do know that someone else is coming. As it is they honk their horns at every intersection.

He'll end up in a tree dead eventually. Hopfully he doesn't take anyone else out with him, though.
