I read it earlier today. Sure, but they gotta be full lbs, as I can't roast smaller amounts. If you want 1/2lbs to two places, I could work it out.

It's not a godshot, but it was pretty damn close.
When the package finally arrived, I knew it was something special. As the post office clerk handed it over, she said "Ooh, that smells good". I gathered from her impressed little sounds that she liked what I was about to sample. I put 2lbs in the freezer, gave one to my mom, and busted into the final bag. After scooping out, then vacuuming the beans already in the machine, I ran a purge cycle. It was clear of stale crap. Time for poison's poison. I made no other changes to the machine, other than the beans. And the result was something special. I tasted a simple shot, no sugar. The flavour was impeccable. I can't even describe it with words. It was coffee like I used to get downtown, simply fresh. The pic I took didn't do the coffee justice, so I'll make another and try again. Not that I'm complaining or anything. Here's another attempt. very tasty. Last edited by steve; 12-10-2009 at 01:09 PM. |

Hypa, awesome! Looks better, hopefully tastes a LOT better. Enjoy!
owace, a burr grinder brings out WAY more flavor than a blade grinder. Good buy! |

Hmmm, I might have to send you some green I have here Poison. Came from my grandmother's farm out in Kona, I think I have 3-5 lbs. Generally I take it to my local roasting guy who does a fine job as well, but it might be fun to send some your way as well. Just joined you FB page as well.

Send it over! I'll roast it for the price of shipping. Which farm, BTW?

Well it's all in green right now, I need to get it roasted, you would not be happy with the taste of green.
However, you can eat the red (cherry) off the plant, I have done so while helping pick when I visit. Very sweet. |

I fully understand. That's why I didn't carry it for a long time. But if you like those flavors...

Poison, can you recommend me a good, cheap, grinder, and a good, cheap espresso machine?
Remember, im using a 5 dollar blade grinder, and a cone filter to make some drip coffee so pretty much anything will be an improvment! Im heading back to washington tonight, cant wait to try these beans out in my parents espresso machine, they have a really nice one! |

OK, first off, you need a good grinder. It's more important than the machine. I recommend buying a good espresso grinder, like the Cunill Tranquilo, for $235.
http://sovranastore.com/esgrin.html It's the best grinder for under $400. The best machine you can buy for the money is a Gaggia. They're very user friendly, easy to learn on, and capable. They heat up quick, and can pull better shots than anything you'll get in your local cafe. http://www.wholelattelove.com/Gaggia/evolution.cfm OK, that a bit above the figure I originally quoted, but it's the best combination of price and shot quality. The grinder is one that you wouldn't need to replace if you stepped up to a better machine a couple years down the road, and the Gaggia is easily sold for over 50% of its original cost, even a couple years later. So, if you can't swing the $470 for the Cunill and Gaggia new, I would buy the grinder new, and look for a used Gaggia on the coffeegeek classifieds: http://www.coffeegeek.com/forums/members/buysell You could buY a refurb Baratza Maestro for $65, but you'll quickly see the need for the Cunill. I mean, I can pull a good shot with the Maestro on my machine, but my Mazzer is SO MUCH BETTER. Buying the Cunill up front will save you money in the long run, trust me. |

Well I finally pulled the trigger, I guess it is finally time to put my $20 blade grinder and french press to pasture. The Gaggia ended up being $172 with coupon and $255 for the grinder.
My 3 year old daughter buys me the best Xmas gifts I will be ordering coffee once I find out when they will arrive. |

Oh, yes. Are you sure you want to open that Pandora's box of rage and hate?
It's a retarded machine, and it's users are for the most part imbiciles, touting it's extremely idiotic finicky tendancies as a bonus which will 'force' you to become a 'better' barista. I hope they all DIAF, along with tHeir precious SM mistresses. And yes, I owned one for 4 years. ABORTABORTABORT You can buy a used Expobar Pulser, if you're patient, for $500, and it'll bend Silvia over it's knee, smack it hard, then ride her slow and long into the sunset. EDIT: specific to you, it WILL NOT outperform your Gaggia. |
