Default 02/03 WRX seats in an 06 STi??? Airbag worky? Starting to hate my STi seats.

I was wondering if anyone had done a swap for the driver's seat from an 02/03 WRX into an STi? I have begun to hate my STi OEM seats, for their hard foam, lack of lateral support, lack of side bolstering, etc. Sure they look great, but they sit too high and I lose circulation in my legs and end up in pain after an average drive, not to mention a day at the track.

My 02 WRX seats are great, and although they still lack a lot of lateral support, the bolstering and overall comfort level is so much better, that I'd be willing to buy a WRX seat (02/03 only) if it meant I was still able to use the factory airbag in them on the 06 STi.

Does anyone know if the airbag'ed 02/03 WRX seat factory airbags/sensors would work with the 06 STi????

If not, then I guess the only answer is to lose airbags all together and get some Brides at some point, but the 02/03 WRX seats would fit the bill nicely until money starts to grow on trees around my house.

The 02-03 seats will work. The airbag connectors are the same. I recently traded my 03 seats for 07 seats.

Sorry, the 07 seats are no different from the STi seats other than the covering materials.

I was thinking about trades, but I would probably rather keep my stock seat, but if anyone wants to sell me an 02/03 seat... PM me what you want for it and we'll see.

I guess I would consider a trade plus cash... but it would have to be a pretty good deal to make me want to actually get rid of the stock seat all together.

Still I wonder if it'll work without any problems...

I'm not so sure they will work, 06 and up has the next generation airbags that use sensors to determine your distance from the dash, etc. Those sensors are mounted in your seat. They probably have nothing to do with the side airbag but will still cause the airbag light to come on if they are removed.

Just pad those seats with some gel or a wooden knuckle back rack. Then you can get some big ass fuzzy dice, and a couple of those chrome woman mud flaps you see on semi's.
