Default My track vid at Big Willow 12/23/05

Wow this was the fastest track I've been to with the STi. I hit 130MPH on the front straight before braking for turn one. This track is easy on the brakes unlike Streets of Willow but I still recommend good pads for that late braking action

Here's my vid!

Cool vivd, I've been on that track a few times, 130 on the front straight is pretty fast I was driving my "S60R" I think I hit 120-125 on the front straight on Nov 3rd, at that "fastest track in the west" Big Willow is probably the must unforgiving track in the west.

You passed a corvette and a porshe. Either they suck or your car must be modded pretty good.

How about 180+ in a open superbike. Now thats fun.... Til you highside out of nine and roll up to the medic! I have seen guys go off in 8 and walk away. But I watched a guy last year 04 get killed going off in turn 1

I think I drove though the padock that day you were there. I was in the wrb 06. I parked for a few then rolled up to budwiser land. I saw a STi in the garage. But not out o n the track. I was there for 30 min or so.

mw1029h2, Ya the other top speed I hit on a track was 120ish on the back and front straights at California Speedway. Do you have any laptimes from Big Willow?

west, I like Redline Events and you can check out there schedule at: www.redlinetrackevents.com
I think I'm gonna try and make the JAN 14-15 Buttonwillow one.

Driving_Miss_Daisy, I have TBE, Cobb Stg 2, springs, sways, and some R-compound tires. This was an open session so they may be beginner or intermediate drivers.

06STi, Hmm didn't see any 06 WRBs. I did grab a garage, arriving early has its perks!

No we didn't have any timing equipment it was a private track session put on by a gentleman that owns a hardware store and a 600hp vette. between turns 8 & 9 120mph, I was in the passenger seat and a pro driver was behind the wheel.

SubyFi,

It looks like you apex turns 1 and 2 too late. You seem to not need to exit all the way out after the apex. If you apex earlier, you can be on throttle earlier and let the car track out all the way to the edge of the track.

Your line through turn 9 is right on.

I did 1:32's at Willow back in the 2002 Open Track Challenge, but we were having issues that day and swapped out the turbo for a brand new one after the day was over.

If you have never been on a track, I would recommend www.nasaproracing.com. There is an event at willow springs next weekend Feb 12-13.

I'll be driving a WRX Wagon saturday and my 93L on Sunday.

Nice video. Last time I drove Willow Springs was in '97 in my 1982 911. That track is all about carrying speed. Seems like the key (in my 180 hp 911) was to bury the throttle as much as possible coming out of 8 and try to keep in it all the way into and exiting 9. Been a long time. Seems like 1:40 is about what I was doing.

What is that taped across your center-dash, some kind of track/lap timer?
