I'd say that the door handles are my least favorite part. Not very hard, just a PITA. Should be getting more work done tomorrow if i get up early. I will keep you you all posted!

Yeah i hear you man that's how i felt about matte black... Gloss looks much cleaner with a sunroof. Look at the '11-'12 picture thread in the members gallery. A member just recently posted a pic of his hatch with a sunroof and wentwith matte black. Doesn't look right in my opinion. I'm happy with what i went with! Thanks for the compliments guys!

Subscribed! Looks killer, I've worked with a lot of vinyl and know how time consuming it can be. Did you use a heat gun or hair dryer for the curves, or just stretched it out?

Everything looks great but IMO, for the badge that you made matte black, i would try to find a way to make the stars matte white instead of silver. Maybe that would give it the clean look that you want. Either way, everything looks great!

This thing is freaking cool. Can you run wrapped cars through carwashes and such? With the new STi my wife has...we can't run it through the carwash for fear of scratching or swirling the OBP paint. Without fear of scratches and swirls...does the wrap hold up well to this?

Also, you think it's harder to do a textured wrap? I have been wanting to do CF wrap on the roof of my bugeye forever...i'm actually scared to try it myself.

What kind of Prep did you do for the wrap?

Awesome project man! Thanks for sharing it with us!

I considered Matte black with gloss black accents but living in the desert would make it very difficult to keep clean. I think matte black everything and gloss the roof and your car would look glorious!

Your not kidding my friend. With everythin else going on day to day its extremely hard to fit in this project of mine! I used a heat gun where i needed to.

I was thinking of painting the stars but didn't because of two reasons:
1 - It's a pain in the a$$ as far as how much time is involved and i'd rather spend that time wrapping.
*2* - I'm going to eventually wrap a different color once i'm sick of Matte White and the white stars would look odd on say orange? Lol. Chrome stars + Gloss Black backround can go with everything.

I'm sure you can run them through car washes but i wouldn't recommend it for a few reasons. I had an OBP '11 Wrx and was the same way as you are with yours lol. I never even considered going to an auto car wash! All I will do once the wrap is complete is go to a self serve car wash bay and give a quick rinse, then soap power wash (from a good distance), then use a wash mitt to quickly go over the car, Rinse again, Then dry! It's very easy to maintain and cleans up well. Only thing is that the gloss black vinyl scratches easier than paint so you want to be careful when hand wiping over it.
I don't believe the carbon wrap would be any more difficult than a regular style wrap. Other than having to pay closer attention to stretching so you don't mess up the look of the pattern.
Prep work
-Wash with dawn dish soap, rinse, dry.
-Clay Bar
-Clean off all clay bar solution
-Wrap

Lol thanks man...

Badge update:
I just wrapped the chrome ring on the grill emblem gloss black to compare it with the rear being matte black. I am definitely going with gloss black! Here's a *****ty pic for comparison!

Yea that would be pretty nasty to keep clean in the desert, that would be an amazing combo, gloss black roof everything else matte black. Plus smoke the lights and nice rims. I'd be golden.

Looking sharp dude!

Couple of questions:

1. How much did it cost to buy the wrap/wrap you full car?
2. How would you like to drive down south 2 hours and help with mine?

Definitely beats a paint job... And this new Plastidip craze that I'm seeing take off like a missile lol. Thanks for the compliment though. Anytime you come into town hit me up to check it out, looks a ton better in person!
Btw it would cost less for you material-wise considering i purchased two colors and had to buy everything else to get started. At least I'll be set for my new color!

Plastidip'd side badges! First time using Plastidip...
I'm not really liking the texture and look of the badges once it's dry. Oh well. I decided on Plastidip because of it's ease of removal when i have the time to do what i want with them. In the mean time this will work just fine. Had to get rid of that ugly silver while they were off the car!
