Default Just a few more ponies

So I ran my 1.8 1996 Impreza in todays rally x. Did well, but was wondering if anyone had any tricks to get a few more HP's. I want to stay in stock class so Im going to add the K&N and a cat back. If anyone has any tips, please send them my way.

Thanks

Jay

Adjust the timing, add a set of headers; preferably equal length if you want power (while sacrificing the deep exhaust).

It would be more beneficial if you just got better at driving.

Better at driving will make the most improvement. You may want to look into pulleys too if you're asking about mechanical parts that may give you a little more edge. Other than that, keep the stock intake or make a hybrid (low end power) and don't get a SRI or CAI. A full exhaust may be beneficial too. Maybe try some weight reduction too. If it's not your daily driver, you can take a lot of stuff out of it. I'd check with the rules though, I don't know about Rallyx and any of the mods I listed.

Are you allowed to do anything else in stock/production classes?

You're better off spending money/time learning to drive better.

A guy in a stock CRX took 4th overall against WRX's, STis, and an Evo. ON SNOW.

You guys are being jackasses. He asked if there are ways to squeeze some more horsepower out of his car, not "how to go faster."

i dont know about your "class". but with good rubber you'll be able to push the power you do have harder

Thats about it. You can use ANY DOT legal tires. So they make some race rubber that is DOT legal. Race rubber will make a big differance.

Having rallycrossed with the EJ18 and doing very well against the WRX's and production FWD rally cars, I would honestly and seriously suggest looking for an EJ22. They came in other models of your car (Impreza LX for example) and should be legal for you to swap out to. For info on just how easy it is, head over to the conversions forum and check out the stickys and/or search for EJ18 to EJ22 or EJ25 swap.

It's cheap, reliable, easy, and gives results you can feel immediately!
