I respect you for putting your family first. Cars are great but they aren't worth causing any kind of strife in your marriage. You also don't want your kids thinking they come second to the car. If things go according to my plans I will be able to build a couple of cars with my kids when they are old enough to help. That way cars will not take away from my time with them but will rather be an opportunity to bond with them.
Good luck with everything and enjoy the new car

Looks like I feared shipping the engine for no good reason. I got a hold of a freight company. It costs approx $500 to ship from here (Kingston, ON, Canada) to Boulder, CO, USA. Just to give a ballpark ship price. Door to door, takes 4 business days. Would arrive on a pallet, right to your garage door... Includes liftgate service at both ends.

Wow, just read this whole thread, and it was quite an adventure. Like others have posted, I work on my own car when I can, would love to be able to do the engine work and build a motor, but lack of room to do so, as well as knowledge and tools to do it correctly, make me say no. Props to you for doing all that you can to that car.
I hit a similar crossroads 6 years ago, after I got married. Kids were not in the picture, just a money sponge of a Mazda. Like you, I parted it out for what I could, and walked away. Bought a truck. Finally save an STi now, 2 years going, stg2, and under warranty still. Did you ever sell the motor? Posts stopped like 6 months ago, and it was never mentioned as sold. |

Hey there, great job on the car! Sucks your selling just wanted to know if your custom down pipe will work on my sti turbo and after market exhaust manifold? If so how much for the down pipe itself? Thanks

Actually it could, if the downpipe was customized it may not fit a stock location turbo.
But since I have the HKS customized downpipe OP sold, I can vouch that it is still the stock location and it *should not* be an issue on a standard wrx or sti. |

Sorry to bump an old thread, but can someone tell me where the bpv hose is going? I see that it connects to the throttle body, but it also T's off under the intake, where does it connect to?

The BPV discharge hose discharges immediately before the turbo compressor inlet, into the intake pipe.

If you're talking about the vacuum reference line, then that tees off to the boost gauge IIRC. Its been a while...

I'm referring to the small vacuum line coming off the BPV, not the big one at the bottom of it. The photo i used wasn't the best one to use, but if you look at some others you will see what I mean. I just need to know where to plumb that vacuum line (besides to the boost gauge) it disappears and goes towards the intake, but i can't imagine BOTH of the bpv lines would go to pre-intake, right?

Update: think I may have found the answer on another site. Looks like it also taps into the FPR vacuum line. This be confirmed? |

On my setup there, the vacuum/boost reference used was right behind the coil pack.

Sweet. So how exactly do you use that stuff? Like do you spray a thin coat or layer that like as if you were painting a car? And do you install gasket when completely dry or still kinda tacky? Used permatex once but think I did it wrong cuz copper spray was peeling off gasket....smh

Outback Hood to Impreza L installation
I would like to know how did you install an outback sport hood to an L wagon. I was looking to purchase an outback sport hood with vents from autopartswarehouse, but it states that the hood does not fit on the L wagon. Thanks in advance.
