Question I need an EGT Gauge Solution!!! HELP!!!

So I'm about to install a boost and EGT gauge on my 2005 WRX. Here is what I need:

1) Matching green/red of WRX gauges
2) QUALITY and RELIABILITY
3) Accuracy (obviously)
4) Fully inclusive setup, gauge and probe. I don't want a central unit or whatever.

Specifically, for #2, I''m looking for an EGT that WILL NOT F*** UP after 5-6 months. The hard thing is finding one that will match my interior gauges... At the moment, I'm considering the MadDad gauges, but I've heard nothing but bad things about their EGT's... Please provide a link to the suggestion as well if possible!

HALP!!!!!!!!! Installations and upgrades are pending this purchase!!!!!

P.S. YES, I've read the gauge FAQ. My problem is there are so many mixed reviews out there, many of which aren't very specific.

You didn't mention how much you're willing to spend. So with that, I'd personally buy DEFI's.

There is a set of white face green illumination in the FS section (they may have already sold) Try HERE

If those don't work out (because they're our of production) buy the DEFI BF amber illumination gauges (60mm).

I really don't have a spending cap (within reason) so Defi's aren't outta the question. HOWEVER, Defi doesn't make any that I have seen that match the WRX green/red interior. Thos whites are "ok", but the white face almost clashes more than getting a non-matching color.

So, all in all, I'd love Defi's, but PLEASE (and I should ahve said this first) provide a link and make sure it matches my above criteria.

Thanks for the input though.

for the price, the prosport gauges look pretty nice and available in a bunch of colors. If you're lucky you might be able to find the older Defi's that are green no blackout to match your interior.

Thanks for the input.

Any other companies even come close to reliability of Defi's? Thinking of just trying my luck with MadDad...

I have an 07 WRX provided the interior is the same I got the Autometer GS series gauges. They have the black face with a silver bevel and green backlighting. Autometer is definitely a high quality gauge and they include all the senders and such with most of thier gauges

If price is not an option, this seems like a pretty sweet idea. I've never seen green BF defi gauges.

what makes the prosports garbage? I know more than a handful of people that have them with lots of miles and no complaints.

Even with my Defi's, the EGT sender probe burnt out at one point and had a oil pressure sender fail, but it doesnt make them garbage either.

I have prosport gauges (boost, EGT, Oil pressure) and have had no problems with them as well. Don't know what other folks have experienced with them.

not to turn this into yet another glowshift/prosport gauge thread, but I've run both of those. I have probably about 10 gauges of those two brands total. EVERY single one has had at least one issue, as well as more sensors than I can count. Poor quality control, LED's going out, eating sensors, wildly inaccurate, the list goes on.

and as much as people like to say they are the same, I've disassembled prosport and glowshift oil pressure gauges. They were 100% IDENTICAL on the inside.

*disclaimer, I currently have 1 prosport and 2 glowshift gauges in my car, which are coming out sometime this fall. EGT and oil pressure sensors on the glowshifts are dead, again, and the prosport is inaccurate and lost most of its lighting. *

They reportedly (via other members on here) break frequently and must be replaced often... Not what I'm looking for. Especially if they have the highest price tag with no better lifespan.

NOT what I wanted to do with BRAND NEW gauges...

^---This is what I don't want. I'd rather buy cheap and replace sensors every 5 months rather than replace THE MOST expensive sensors every ~7 months....

Glad to hear the years of reliability, but how many miles? Some of these reviews are on garage cars, not to be pessimistic or anything. I may go with PS since they are cheap and equally reliable/unreliable as other more expensive gauges.

Years/miles?

AND after all the good, here comes the bad I always hear... Any reflection on why? You running super high hp? Basic mods? Average time before a fix is needed?

...

F*** my life. Does anyone make a reliable product? I understand this is a harsh environment, but really?!

besides placement, the only thing that will extend the life of any EGT probe on the market out there is a good tune.
I broke my first Defi EGT because of a prolonged lean condition i didn't attend to.
They are all 2 wire K-type thermocouples actually.
My friend has a autometer with a 14 year old EGT on his turboed jetta mk2.

I have a spare EGT sensor available fs.
