but the concept BRZ STI showed up much later than the ft-86, this WRX is still an early model with silly wheels and brakes like the FT-86. I could have just easily posted a GT86/FRS side profile because its almost identical to the BRZ and nothing like the FT86 concept

this car looks sick. How many people actually rally/offroad their car vs those that lower and keep it on the road/track. I think its a smart move to make this car look a bit more like the german cars. If this car is priced right, its going to be a real winner.

The wrx concept appears to have equal, or even less front overhang than a brz....
This means the concept will either be way off from the production version, or Subaru has some big news regarding the drivetrain in this thing. |

I think it's the best looking WRX to date. If the production model looks anything like the concept, I'm buying it.

I'm guessing anything performance related that is "shown" will not make it to the floor...ie: carbon roof, 2 piece floating rotor, wheels,etc... I'm also guessing that Subaru still hasn't listened to what quite a few of us want, ie: recaro seats, pistons that don't do pop under slight mods, better oil pickup, etc...Lastly I'm guessing I will not be buying one. Good looking car none the less.

So much ridiculousness in this thread. You mean the ft86 concept that is the basis for every BRZ and FR-S out there? The ones that are nearly identical to the FT-86 in every other country. |

well supposedly the BRZ/FR-S engine can handle quite a bit of boost, the new WRX/STI engine should be similar to if not better than that

lol, right. In the same way you could take any Corolla off-road. Let's not get crazy here. The WRX has, is, and will be the performance version of an econobox. The fact that you could drive it on a light gravel road does not mean it was designed for "off-road."

Are you serious? The WRX was designed to be a highly versatile platform. This is common knowledge. To say that is it only a performance vehicle and not practical in areas is ridiculous. It could be a comfortable daily-driver, a rugged rally car, a slammed street car, or a built-up track car. Not to mention being able to race on snow. All I'm saying is that this new design, while obviously an impressive feat of engineering, does not keep with this tradition that has made the WRX, the WRX. I'm also not saying that I dislike this car, by any means. What I am saying, however, is that it is clearly not the same car we have known as the WRX for years. Thus, I think it should be called something different.

This is also a ridiculous statement. You could take any car off-road, but what separated the WRX from other cars was its incredibly impressive ability to handle and perform in other-than-concrete surfaces. Go ahead and take a Corolla rallying. You let me know how that works out. Lol.

It has a traction advantage over a corolla but it's just a car..it can't handle the abuse of offroading any better without serious modifications. The stock suspension and tires are not for offroading either.

You know that not all rally cars are AWD, right? RIGHT? There's nothing about the structure of that car that prevents it from doing (for example) rally-x. |

LMAO! people complaining about it not being able to have roof racks and not being rally ready. Go buy the base model impreza jeez! Will definitely be selling the WRX at the end of this year to pick up one of these.

I'm willing to wager that 99.9% of the people complaining about the lack of utility, and rally resemblance have never taken their car off road. Like someone else mentioned, the OG subbies were focused on performance. Want utility? get a forester. I can't wait to see what the sti looks like |

It looks beautiful but please learn from 2008 and hold off for at least 2 model years before you pick one up

It's driving dynamics look crappy vs previous generations. Most people are only concerned about looks. This concept WRX with it's high belt line will lack driving pleasure earlier models have.
