I'm 35 with no kids. Look at it this way. You'll reach the light at the end of the tunnel much sooner than I will. I'll probably be hobbling after mine with a cane.

No offense, but I don't think I want to listen to your birth control advice. Never trust the woman to take care of things is my advice or twice is nice.

Is your girlfriend in school still also?

If she's still in school or working full time, your best bet is to alternate evenings/days taking care of your son. While one of you is taking care of your son, the other one has some solid time to study. Set a schedule and stick to it. Of course, the usual child raising tips apply: put the kids to bed early so you have the evenings without interruptions, start developing a fairly consistent schedule with feeding/playtime/etc. to help reduce grumpiness, etc.

Good luck!

Ok, two things.

1) I'm 20 and it would be a disaster if I were to become a father-to-be at this point in my life.

2)my ex-gf of 1.5 years was a mom. At times, I felt like the father because of association. She had her baby when she was 20(now she's 23). Seems like you've got most of it figured out in regards to the lifestyle change. It will be difficult, but you will also see the priceless rewards of having children very soon. Good luck, keep your head up.

One time when I was your age I had to put my niece to sleep for the night. Her parents were out, so she was being a little rebellious.

I wound up every single toy around her crib that made noise, and kept at it, rewinding them again and again. I also pretended to fall asleep on a bed nearby to inspire her to imitate the adult. In about 15-20 minutes she was exhausted from trying to process all that auditory information and fell asleep like a log.

Good luck with your kid. When you are 40 you are going to ask to borrow the keys to his fuel cell 2027 WRX.

i'm sorry, maybe i am missing what you are asking for advice about....you have a kid...you are going to school....its tough...blah blah blah...

as my dad would say...."suck it up...life's a bitch and then you die"

the sooner you realize that things could be a whole lot harder, the sooner you will enjoy these times you are having right now....trust me...in 5 years, you will wish to your god (or lack there of) that your son was 4 months old again.

my wife was 20 and I was 22. we never planned on kids. She was on birth control and we were using condoms every time. Guess what.....BABY!
Scared us to death. Well...once you get into a few months and they're more than just pooping crying eating blobs of skin...they're fun! Infact my kids 3 now and he's the coolest little guy ever! I can't get enough time with him! Don't get frusterated and try to be patient with the kid if you're frusterated. They don't understand the world the way you do and need you to be a good example of patience and love.

That's my best advice man. He's just a baby. babies only know what you teach him. keep that in mind at ALL TIMES!

Good luck bro. you'll get through it and you'll have a blast in a year or 2 when they really are talking a lot and have fun things to say and fun games to play.

I was 24 when my daughter was born but I was already 5 years into my career at that point. If you are with the mother still your best bet is most likely for her to stay at home with the baby and work PT evenings/weekends. The other advice I can say is cheesy, but true: just do it. Dont think about how hard it is.

First 2 years was the toughest for us, we were 22 and 24 when my daughter was born. She is now 12 and I have enjoyed every minute of being a father to her. Despite the tough times and challanges that come about it all works itself out in the end. It's amazing how quick they grow up, be sure to appreciate all the little things as they grow older.

Do everything you can to finish school .... it will help you provide for the kid later.

Quite honestly when they are that young they need you to feed them and change the diaper -- when they get older they need you more as a role model / playmate / mentor.

When my wife and I decided to "start trying", it took on the first try ....

My mom had me when she was young...I'm sure it was tough at first, but by the time I was out of the house they had the best parts of their lives ahead of them without having to worry about being a parent 24/7. Their is always light at the end of the tunnel...

Really? No ****, you don't say! If you stop taking something that prevents conception, you can conceive?!? Who would have figured.

And you are too young (and dumb) to have kids.
