Likely no, or there would be at least one competitor out of the 280+ drivers on street tires running them at SCCA Nationals next week. A tire advantage would not go unnoticed by this group.......

Well, they're extremely hard to come by, with little feedback. But who's to say no one will be running them?

From the data posted, they would be good in autox. However, until someone actually runs them head to head with your mentioned tires, no one is going to be satisfied. Why not be a pioneer and get a set, run them in whatever circuit, and report back on how they performed against the "name" brands? If they are terrible for you, someone will take them off your hands pretty quick.

Somebody could, but the tire each competitor is running is asked to be listed and no entrants list they are running that tire. Looks like I could order a set of 235/40/17's right now, which is a very popular size for ST* competitors.......

There was a question about their performance for autocross a couple posts above, so if that doesn't pertain to you, no need to comment. And nobody mentioned autocross suspension setups, they asked about tire grip, so apparently your puffy chest caused some comprehension problems.

Here's some good and bad news for those of you that are interested in the Federal tire line up.

After you're done reading reply with the sizes you guys are interested in so I can relay the message.
thanks,

================================================== ==

Hello Matt,

Thank you very much with this great news on a blue Monday here in Taiwan. *I have brought up this issue during our morning meeting and the answer that I got is that even thought we have about 15 major distributors in America, the only main buyer of
595RS-R is from TDW. *However, their buying volume is very small from
such a big distributor. *The true reasons, which I don't really know
and quite frustrated with remain a mystery to us. *Perhaps by spreading
out words of demand from your EVO clubs and RTA forums could make them
be more aware the potential of our 595RS-R. *Do you might know other
info. such as your friends' inquiry on what sizes of 595RS-R they are looking
for and maybe you might even know a potential distributor that I can try
to promote better with our motorsports products. *Our 595RS-R is really
popular in Japan and other countries with drifting events. *Thank
you for the effort in advance. *As regarding to our FZ201 and FZ202,
it's true that we haven't finalized which distributor will get the right
to sell these tires. *Hopefully by next year, you will see them in
US soil.....

Cheers

posted in the other thread, i want 255/40/17. but i'm sure 245/40/17 and 265/35/18 would be popular sizes along with the size above.

205/50/16 EDIT: actually, given the width, just 205/50/16 for me, RSR's or Evo's. I'd prefer Evo's, but take either.

I think they're way too wide for those sizes on subarus.

I think the two most called for would be 235/40R17 for WRX guys and 235/45R17 for STi guys. And probably some 18" sizes too.

The bigger problem is that if they are really that much bigger than normal tires should be, people are going to have huge fitment problems. For example, 255/40R17 R1R on my wagon barely fit with enough clearance to fit a wrench through. If those things are massive, then they will not fit my setup in the same size. I can't be the only one who is down to about 5mm of clearance.

For the track guys, they'll want 245/255s, at least.

At that speed, in that car, on a 14 degree banked turn, with those tires.... it's just simple math really.

There are members in this thread who did concern themselves with autox performance so it's grown a bit in topic, who'd of thunk.

I think that stacking them up unmounted is not a fair way to examine their width. According to the published specifications they are a mere .1" wider than my sumitomo's. I think you can probably handle .050" extra tire on each side.

They could simply come out of the mold a little differently than the tires they were compared to, so they seem wider before being mounted on a set of wheels.

Maybe a dumb question, but if the tire is somewhat intended for drifting, doesn't that mean that it may not be the best option for road course use of other events that demand consistent traction?

Not that I'm on either side of the line here, and I definitely am not a fan of drifting. However, drifting would require consistent traction as well.

Anyhow, I can get these tires through a local shop and have "nearly" purchased them on a few occasions. I just can't seem to give up my love of the Toyo, even with the immense savings.

I run the 255/35r18s and only have trimmed rears. 18x8.5 +45et. Tein H-Techs.
